21 Nov 15 - 05:40 PM (#3752577) Subject: French Yodelling From: Jack Campin This was a new one on me. I spotted an ocarina 78 by Andréany and mentioned it on an ocarina forum. Somebody else did some digging and found he was better known as "Andréany The Yodelling Tramp", and made a bunch of yodel 78s with his collaborator Blangy and his orchestra. Like this: The Shepherdess Yodel on French TV in 1967, with papier maché cows Following links from the YouTube, there seems to have been a cottage industry of French yodelling in the early 20th century. Is it a long-established folk art in the Francophone parts of the Alps? |

Her videos are outnumbered by yodelling French bulldogs. So apparently a few French speakers have yielded to the urge to yodel, and there are enough fans to keep them going. Certainly Andreany gets a nice response from his audience. He yodels well, and I was also impressed by his low notes. |

Can't find any yodel content on her page, but she has acted in a musical about Lucretia Borgia and in "The Vagina Monologues", also recorded a song "Nosferatu". Yodelling Borgias with vampire vaginas. Stephen King could make something of that. |
