11 Jan 16 - 07:28 PM (#3764754) Subject: RE: BS: Officially retired From: Donuel What I have seen of my fathers retirement and my own is that there is the special project that never has the energy required or the wakeful time to accomplish. 11 Jan 16 - 10:43 PM (#3764800) Subject: RE: BS: Officially retired From: John on the Sunset Coast I retired in 2007 also...Sept. 30. Yet I dream of working at least once a week. In these dreams I am either selling (which I did wholesale for 34 years), or discussing sales with my manager. The funny thing is that I never make any sales in these dreams. As I was rather successful in my job, I guess the dream is a way to tell me not to go back. Still-in-all, it's rather humiliating not to make any dream sales. Its rather like when I used to sleep sans clothing that I would be doing non-sexual things stark nekkid in dreamland. Thank god I never wore a Maidenform bra, for those of you who remember their 1950s/60s 'I dreamed...' advert promos. |

13 Jan 16 - 08:02 AM (#3765134) Subject: RE: BS: Officially retired From: Backwoodsman Naaawww, it's one long paid holiday, Terry! The DWP and my private pension provider keep thrusting money into my hot, sweaty hand for spending my days walking my dog, playing my guitars and mandolin (still not as well as I'd like), drinking tea, eating scones, occasionally flicking a duster around and pushing the Dyson up and down, sitting in Costa Coffee with a nice skinny latte watching the world go by, and loads of other stuff. 😎 Best job I've ever had, by a lot!👍 |

14 Jan 16 - 01:57 AM (#3765371) Subject: RE: BS: Officially retired From: Fossil I am a registered pharmacist here in New Zealand. This year, at the age of 72, I have decided that when my license to kill runs out, in March 2016, I am not going to renew it. Freedom!!! I intend to find other stuff to do. I still have my yacht, so can sail the Pacific Ocean, the Cook Strait and the Tasman Sea, which I intend to do before it all gets too much. I *will* learn all the chords to "You Got a Friend" and play it all through at least once without looking at the chart. I will try other things, too. Not bunjy jumping (I flew hang gliders for many years and regard it as a waste of time). Kite surfing, maybe. Or just having fun. Tramping the trails. Cruising - the Missus will like that! Or whatever. Have fun, OldDude! I'm right behind ya! |
