05 Dec 99 - 10:36 PM (#145238) Subject: HAPPY (late)BIRTHDAY CLAMGIRL From: catspaw49 oy......well............HEY, IS IT MY FAULT YOU DIDN"T LIST YOUR BIRTHDAY WITH BBC?????.......... After signing an e-mail "A New 45 Year Old" you would think that a reasonably intelligent person would figure out that the sender had just had a birthday. If the recipient (me) is incrdibly shallow, generally obnowios, and exploring new depths of stupidity where no man has gone before, you simply go "DUH." Anyway.......... HAPPY BIRTHDAY JERI....ONE OF MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE PEOPLE!!! Geeziz Jeri, I am sorry and STUPID and thanks so much for reminding me that I am. I hope you have many more...You are simply the best. 05 Dec 99 - 11:03 PM (#145248) Subject: RE: HAPPY (late)BIRTHDAY CLAMGIRL From: Jeri Spaw, I agree with your post except the part about my birthday not being on bbc's web page. Bad excuse! It's been there, three days after Rick's and right next to Mbo's since sometime around June. So there. I was also not trying to remind you of your stupidity, only enjoying the chance to get a good dig in. (But I love you anyway.) People used to play this game at work - don't talk about your birthday, and everyone pretends they don't know, right up until they find a devious way to sneak the cake in. It was funny right up until the year they really forgot. |

Stop struggling - it's scary, but I'm not letting go. All who have replied, thank you. The thread wasn't really necessary - I just enjoyed doing the guilt thing on Catspaw. |

06 Dec 99 - 11:23 AM (#145445) Subject: RE: HAPPY (late)BIRTHDAY CLAMGIRL From: bbc I shouldn't post here, since I'll just get in (more) trouble for the clam reference. I am so sorry I missed your birthday, Jeri! I even had it on my calendar. My only excuse is that this past weekend was so non-stop that I didn't spend any time at my computer (Practically a first!). Best always, Barbara |

06 Dec 99 - 11:59 AM (#145466) Subject: RE: HAPPY (late)BIRTHDAY CLAMGIRL From: Jeri Yum! I hope you don't mind if I bring a couple pints of Ben and Jerry's Wavy Gravy ice cream to go with the cake - one for each of us. (healthy, shmealthy.) Is this a bundt cake? You could just set one of those pillar candles in the middle, unless you have a fire extinguisher handy. |

06 Dec 99 - 11:21 PM (#145834) Subject: RE: HAPPY (late)BIRTHDAY CLAMGIRL From: Jeri Thanks, all. Allan C., I didn't know anybody had noticed I was "emanating." Don... There's a song in the Digital Tradition, "My Get Up And Go Has Got Up And Went," words trad, melody by Pete Seeger. I found a typed paper my mother had saved. It's a reprint from the Schenectady [NY] Union Star Action Line column. There's no date on it. There are a few verses that didn't make it into the song: There's nothing the matter with me, I'm as healthy as I can be; I have arthritis in both my knees And when I talk, I talk with a wheeze; My pulse is weak and my blod is thin, But I'm in danged good shape for the shape I'm in Arch supports I have for my feet (Or I wouldn't be able to be on the street). Sleep is denied me night after night, But every morning I feel I'm all right. My memory is failing, my head's in a spin - But I'm awfully well for the shape I'm in. The Moral is this - as this tale I unfold - That for me and for you who are growing old It's better to say "I'm fine" with a grin Than to let folks know the shape we are in. How do I know my youth is all spent... (But I still have all my teeth, except for the wisdom ones.) |
