It starts with the lyrics: "Come all you lads and lasses, pay attention to my oration, I hope you join in my song and give me an ovation...." The lyrics outline a story about poitín being distilled. An "architraitor"(?) informing the police about a particular distillation operation. But when the police arrived at the place they were informed it was...they found no trace of a still or poitín. _____ some lines towards the end of the song: "...freedom is soon darling, we'll have home rule in Erin. We'll banish all land grabbers, and cowardly architraitors (?), We'll have out Irish poitín still............" ___ The song incorporates the Irish language refrain at the end of the song...and a shorter variant of it after each verse earlier in the song: ______________________________ __________________________ Can anybody help me find out more about this version of the song? would be greatly appreciated Alan |

Also the text of the song you linked helps solve the mystery of the "Architraitor"... "cowardly - hearted traitor" Thanks very much Alan |
