Use a youtube conversion site such as www.onlinevideoconverter.com/mp3-converter but choose .wav as the file type. This will give you one long track. If you want to split it into tracks, use something like Audacity to split it up. If there are gaps between the tracks, the 'silence finder' function works well. If not, use 'Add Label At Selection.' Then use 'Export Multiple' and save the tracks. Drag these into whatever program you use to burn CDs and away you go. |

Many of the downloaders do nasty things to our computers, and can be impossible to remove. If you want to put a downloader on your computer, Google the name of the program and check it out thoroughly. Don't just take the first downloader advertised on a popup while you're playing YouTube. I record the sound from videos or whatnot on my computer with my Zoom Handy H2 recorder plugged into the earphone jack of my computer. Then I edit the sound files I've recorded in Audacity. Audacity is supposed to be able to record directly from the computer's sound card, but I was unable to do that after I got a computer with Windows Vista. With recent updates to Windows 10 and Audacity, I can once again record direct from my sound card - so I may not need an external recorder for that task any more. -Joe- |

In case you don't know how to burn it to a CD, one thing you can do is load the songs in iTunes (when the little box of "downloads" appears at the bottom drag the picture with the song's name on it into iTunes) and then assemble all those songs into a playlist, and then chose "burn playlist to CD." |

An 'audio CD' (aka CD-DA - Compact Disc Digital Audio) has tracks in WAV format and will play in any player. That's the sort Ed refers to in the first reply. When you burn look for the word 'audio'. You can also just put MP3 files (or maybe AAC files) on CD. This is a CD ROM (CD Read Only Memory) and you also 'burn' these. A CD ROM can hold hours of music, against about 75mins for CD-DA. Some 'CD players' will play them, some most won't. (The one in my car can, and every DVD player I've owned can, but none of my portable players.) So make sure you 'burn' the right type of CD for your purpose. If you don't know where it will be played you need an audio CD. |

03 Feb 16 - 03:39 AM (#3770270) Subject: RE: Tech: making a cd from youtube From: Mr Red I use Audacity and record then run the video, don't forget to have Audacity visible as it runs, then you can stop it with a space bar pretty quickly. Kill the YouTube or it will often run into the next video. Top & tail the silences, normalise (select all or select none) then export as WAV or MP3. Don't save. Repeat for all desired videos. I use Nero to burn an audio CD though it does need to have the tracks loaded in the order you want them to play. Win will ask if I want to burn an audio CD when I pop a blank CD-R in the writer so that is a possibility I have never used. |

You can choose the application from which to grab the sound, click on Hijack and then Record, start the sound going, and away you go. I then tidy up the resulting .wav file with Audacity. In my case, the application set for recording from YouTube would be Firefox. |

It's called 'Download YouTube Videos as MP4' - but there are several similar addons. You can be pretty sure that a Firefox addon will be safe - especially since Mozilla introduced mandatory reviewing and 'signing' of addons in version 43. If you capture the sound from Firefox, as Will does, you don't need any sort of downloader or addon. |
