Here's another song written by Marcus, sung by Splott Man with Dame Patti....
When the boys are on parade.
Kiwi folkies are devastated.
Such a talented musician, singer, songwriter, taken much too soon.
Too sad.

Very shocked, he was, by my standards, so young. His and the group The Chaps' CDs get a lot of playing in our house.
I just mentioned one of his insightful songs on the 'What are you learning' thread.

I just heard that Marcus Turner had died. Calennig first saw him performing at the Christchurch Festival, and I was captivated. He was a true artist. Rest in peace.

I have not sent an email.

NOTE: I don't know what Noiah Reid's TIFF song has to do with Marcus Turner. I'll contact the requester and sort this out.

TIFF Song
(Noah Reid)

i was young then
how could i know?
the mistakes i made would fade away like names p-ssed in the snow

it seems like young men
have a reputation to uphold
go get drunk, do something dumb, kiss a girl, bite your tongue, do what you’re told

i’m getting over
getting older all the time
guess a toenail makes no difference in a good bottle of wine

these images that fade, in and out of focus
looking for that magnum opus
h-ll i hope it’s down the line, as i’m smokin’ down this phony showbiz shine

it seems so seamless
when you see it all at first
and the photo flashes burst, and then the smiling starts to hurt

but who could dream this?
it’s like i’m drowning in my thirst
a fabrication of appeal, let’s keep it real, except what’s real is all rehe-rs-d

i bought this jacket
’cause the front said montreal
that’s a town i had to leave, i didn’t wanna leave at all

when i wear it
it makes me feel alone
it’s a reminder that i needed a reminder of the place i once called home

but in toronto
there’s a couple parks i know
where the trees flow in the breeze and the people all walk slow

and i could sit there for hours
even in the snow
i can always find the time to waste my time, i hope i never let that go

Tiffany says the above is not the right song:
no in the 1993/2004 album of the chaps- they had a song called "tiff"
marcus was the singer o idk if they perform it still
