06 Dec 99 - 10:40 AM (#145423) Subject: Nos Galen Lyric Request From: Elizabeth(a@telerama.com) I'm reorganizing my hardcopy music and I find that I've misplaced my favorite Welsh songbook. I have a gig tonight and need the original Welsh to "Deck the Halls." Anybody have it at their fingertips? Thanks in advance. E. |

By the way, I have had long discussions on *Deck the Halls* with Welsh experts who have researched the song in the States, and it may well be that words, *Deck the Halls...* were written by a Welsh American. It certainly was published over there much early than over here in Wales. Nos Galan, as a tune, is/was popular both as a dance tune for harp (hence the evolution of the ffa-la-la's) and as a tune for setting penillion - singing a variety of verses as suited the occasion. |
