The original poem "Shy Geordie" was by Helen Cruickshank and tune set to it by the late Jim Reid, describing the plight of Inglesmadie Annie, who lived "Up the Noran Water" near in Inglesmadie near Fettercairn in Scotland. Yes, do read the "show more" under the YouTube posted by Guest #. This is not to decry other versions, but hopefully just set the record straight! |

It turns southeast at the Den of Ogil and flows on to meet River South Esk west of Brechin. |
