09 Mar 16 - 04:47 PM (#3777709) Subject: BS: Reseting a user password in Vista From: GUEST,Dazbo at home Hi there, looking for some advice My step daughter has forgotten her password (I am the administrator and she has been set up as one of the users). We do not have a password disk for her. I have reset her password using my administrator account (using Manage another account). This seems to have worked ok but when my daughter tries to log in it accepts the password but then logs off. I've rebooted the lap top a couple of times but it hasn't made any difference. I tried to set up a guest account as a test and even though it doesn't have a password it looks like its going to let you and and then logs off. I think I had a similar problem when I set up the account four years ago but I can't remember how I got it work but I seem to feel it was something simple. Any ideas? |

The work around is to make my daughter an administrator - not what I would like to do as she's only 7. So apart from changing from Vista anyone got any ideas other than making a 7yo an administrator? |

She will lose any shit she has stored in the account. Or you could create a new account without deleting the old one and if she needs stuff from the old one you could fetch it. But a 7 year old being allowed a password on her account? WTF? |

Then I discovered that nothing running Win 10 can get into the web interface f my D-link routers. So now I either have to keep the Vista machine as it is until it won't go any more at all, or go out and buy a cheap XP laptop just to be able to tweak the routers. Bah! |
