Mudcat Healing Circle - Request for Son

Subject: Mudcat Healing Circle - Request for Son
From: jeffp

My wife just called me at work and told me that her youngest son Ryan (living with his father) was rushed to the hospital with a severely swollen testicle and will probably be undergoing surgery tonight to remove it. Bonnie is understandably distraught and I am flashing back to the many hours I spent in the hospital with my first wife who died of brain cancer in 1992. Any healing thoughts you can send our way would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Jeffp

Hang in there. All shall be well again, I know, as said Julian of Norwich. It's scary, but it isn't the same thing. hold onto that. I'll keep you all in my thoughts.

It is at the outset that these things are the most frightening, and they generally work themselves out well. Though we often think of loss, we must also think of how more often than not, the odds are in our favor. I had a freind, an Irish American, who went through the worst case synario, testicular cancer, and God willing, that is not what is happening here, however, for that fellow, it has been over a decade, and every time I see him, I think of how we all counted him as in his last fight so long ago. He is leading a strong and productive life and that fight is well in his past. We are living in hopeful days. My wife and I send our prayers and best hopes and wishes. Larry and Genie Otway

Surgery or not, it is very unlikely that anything coming out of this misfortune will have a long term effect on the boys future. I am pulling for him. Parish

Thinking of you and your wife. I'm sure your stepson will do well, though he might not feel up to much for a day or two.

Jeff, please know that we are holding you, Bonnie, and Ryan in the Light and directing our thoughts of healing and complete recovery to him. Sing a song for him and for Bonnie.

I give thanks for Ryan's complete recovery.

Blessed Be

I don't know how old he is Jeff, but my son Michael had a similar thing when he was quite young and things have turned out fine. We are thinking the best for all.

Just got home from the hospital after visiting Ryan. He did have the testicle removed. There is apparently no sign of cancer. (Whew!!!!!!) He is doped up, but in good spirits. He might be discharged tomorrow, if the fever responds to the antibiotics. It's gone from 103 down to 101, so the signs are encouraging.

As background, he is about to turn 13. The doctor told him there won't be any effect on his development or function. Now, our only concern is about the psychological impact at this age. One of Bonnie's brothers was born with only one testicle and sired 3 kids, all boys. We figure he would be a perfect one to reassure Ryan.

Bonnie and I are hanging in there, as are the rest of the family. We thank you for your support and will keep you posted on his recovery.

In awe at the love here,
Jeffp

I'm just on for the first time tonight, so the good news came seconds after the bad: I know your anxiety lasted much longer, and you still pray that Ryan doesn't let the loss make him feel diminished. My thoughts are with you and Ryan.

Ryan went home from the hospital today. His temperature is back to normal. Bonnie talked to him a couple of times on the phone, but he was so doped up on Percocet he was falling asleep. Prognosis is excellent. We'll be seeing him this weekend. He lives a couple of hours away, so we don't see him too often.

I'll be printing out this thread for him to see the support he and we have received from you, our new friends. Thanks so much.

Dear Jeff and Bonnie,

That's such great news! Just you watch, Ryan will be up and around in no time. Great big hugs to him and to the two of you.

And Ryan, when you're reading this printout -- if Jeff and your mom didn't get you something really cool -- well, all I can say is, I tried my best for ya kid!! Take it easy and get well real soon!!

All the best to you and yours, Áine

Jeff,

You are in a fine crowd here. And you've improved us by your arrival. Now stick around and what we are really up to and capable of.

Once Catspaw was at death's door and the Doctor was trying to pull him through. We should have let him but for some dumb reason we got him back.

Glad the boy is on the mend.

Don
