Who knows where the post goes, who knows where the thread goes?

Or why.

With apologies to Sandy Denny.

Wasn't she wonderful? I'm a confirmed Irish tunesmith, not a song man at all, but I have a collection of all her best (and worst) recordings that I treasure. Two singers. Sandy and Luke. Oi, Greg, I've just bloody hijacked your thread. Please hijack it back!

Hijack away, Steve - she was one of the all time greats. On beyond wonderful - and this from this here Yank. The world is a much poorer place without her.

Be well,

Greg

I thought you had! I have that on vinyl somewhere. I have a box set of eight Sandy CDs. It's very patchy in parts, just demos and all that, but around half of that set is just sublime. What a voice, what a loss.

And Luke....

Ach, yer bugger, gillymor, now I'm probably going to be listening to Sandy Youtubes until three in the morning! Mrs Steve'll wonder where I am. I'll blame you!

I also have , on vinyl, an album she did with Strawbs, very interesting stuff, some good, but some truly grand. yes, she was a great loss . I must say that I was also very keen on The Strawbs . But that is another story.

Steve, there is hope still. Alie Barnes (Essex) sings just like Sandy. If you closed your eyes you would swear that Sandy was singing, and Alie is a very nice lady as well.

Always loved Sandy Denny's voice.

Shouldn't this thread be moved above the line?

I sang Crazy Man Michael recently and introduced it by saying;

A golden time when Richard Thompson and Dave Swarbrick were writing 'em for Sandy Denny to sing 'em.

(I recall when my son had said he had never heard of her, I said she was the singer dueting with Robert Plant on Battle of Evermore. He said, oh, she did other things then?)

Blake's 7 (1978–1981)

[Blake is under treatment after witnessing a massacre]

Dr. Havant: Reality is a dangerous concept. Each one of us interprets it in a slightly different way. Every sense impression is filtered by the brain and altered, sometimes just a little, sometimes completely, to fit our individual model of what the world is about. If that model should be challenged...Don't worry, we'll get it sorted out.

Next up - Sandy Denny at Fairfield Hall Croydon, Nov 1977 perhaps! There was an official live CD called Gold Dust (I think) which I managed to get before it was pulled!

I was privileged to see Fairport performing at Loughborough Uni in the early 70's and Sandy was still with them. She had a really stinking cold at the time, most people would have cancelled, but she came out and sang her heart out. She was still brilliant. I miss her every day.
