Roy Wood captured my imagination through his enthusiasm to pick up any instrument and have a quick untutored bash at playing it.. The results immediately ending up on recorded tracks. His early solo albums were gems of brilliant recordings constructed from multilayered tracks of amateurishly played instruments... 😎 .. then along came a 17 year old studio tea boy named Mike Oldfield.... |

I've dabbled at Concertina , and violin and used to manage a basic scale on cornet ! |

And I could never imagine learning to play it well myself. The cello is beautiful too, and according to some is the instrument closest in sound to the human voice. But, I've never much enjoyed the saxophone. Which is strange; because an ex-partner was a very good sax player, but I still didn't change my opinion. I guess it's always just a matter of personal taste, in the end. |
