The Rude Mechanicals are versatile multi-instrumentalists performing a wide range of music including traditional folk-dance tunes, contemporary material and miscellaneous musical indulgences.
Based in Shoreham, Sussex, England, the Mechanicals are Mick Parker, Ray Chandler and Barry Ruffell, sometimes augmented by other musical pals when extra instrumentation is needed. Their musical style is informal, their repertoire extensive and adaptable, and their playing and singing highly distinctive.

Dan first came to prominence with the seminal 1970's folk dance band, Flowers & Frolics and his melodeons have been heard in a number of other leading dance bands including Gas Mark 5, The Dan Quintet, The Watch and Pigeon Swing. He has also had a long association with folk clubs including the influential Islington Folk Club during its years as a major influence and where his distinctive voice and catholic repertoire were heard
Since moving to Sussex over a quarter of a century ago he had a long association with the very popular folk club at the Royal Oak in Lewes, performed many times in a duo with Will Duke and is currently the lead singer with the delightfully quirky Duck Soup.
