It should be "bumbee", i.e. a bumble-bee, one of those big fellows. The comparison is that the bagpipes sound like the [loud] drone of the bees. The tune, incidentally, is "Highland Laddie" [= Were you ever in Quebec/ Donkey Riding, etc.]. I've never heard any other words than those quoted.

As a long shot, brumbie (with an 'r') is an Aussie wild horse. The song is unfamiliar.

Thanks Murray, I never put the bumbee tune together with Donkey Riding and I'm familiar with both , guess I just had the accent on the wrong si la' bull.
