(a term I even learned here!) Anyway, I was surprised this song hadn't been dissected here previously. Great tune, bob dylan covered it, but all lyrics online suggest that the third time through the title phrase he sings "blood in my eyes for you". CLEARLY on the 3rd iteration in EACH verse it is another word. Seems to start with an "S". I thought I heard "sperm" one time, maybe "socket", maybe "pocket". Dunno. I am at a loss. I've starred below where the ambiguous word is. listen to the Sheiks version on youtube and you will see that it is clearly not "eyes". Woke up this morning, feeling blue Seen a good looking girl, can I make love with you Hey, hey, babe, I got blood in my eyes for you Hey, hey, babe, I got blood in my eyes for you I got blood in my *******?????? for you, baby I don't care what in the world you do. Thanks in advance for your help! I'd like to do this live, but wanna do it justice. |

01 Sep 16 - 03:26 PM (#3807969) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Blood in my Eyes (Mississippi Sheiks) From: GUEST I'm wondering if my question wasn't clear enough. Because with all due respect, the lyric in question is definitely not "eyes". I appreciate ya'll listening to the tune. Take a closer listen though. At the following time marks on the youtube clip. The 3rd instance of "I've got blood in my" the next word is not "eye" 0:28 0:56 1:22 2:09 I'm starting to think it was something profane in the actual song (given the obvious sexual overtones) and that he just muttered nonsense in place of the profane word for the recording. All due respect and many thanks for any insight anyone can provide. |

I've listened to all your examples a couple times and they all sound like "blood in my eyes." Albeit, it is highly slurred, but it's still "blood in my eyes" |
