That cameo performance by the Dillards was probably a response from the TV industry to the big success of 'The Ballad of Jed Clampett' as played by Flatt and Scruggs. It was the theme song for the American TV show 'The Beverley Hillbillies'. The Ballad of Jed Clampett' reached 44 on the top 100 pop hits list of 1961. |
