Biology- a science of exceptions "Nature provides exceptions to every rule." To every rule there is an exception—and an idiot ready to demonstrate it. "If you are not an exception, try to be the example. "There can be no justice so long as law is absolute. Even life itself is an excercise in exceptions." "When has justice ever been as simple as a rule-book?" "A shrink once told me that an exception is a resentment waiting to be born." "By the deficits we may know the talents, by the exceptions we may know the rules, by studying pathology we may construct a model of health." Be the exception, and be happy. Look for the exception to the rule and you will find it. Something remarkable , new, exceptional and noteworthy is too often your own idea, except when someone else thinks of it first. |

Its true, or at least original, meaning is that the presence of an exception applying to a specific case establishes ("proves") that a general rule exists. In the Talmud there are 613 commandments/rules. There are about the same number of exceptions. 1% Rule: The Golden rule, he with all the gold rules. |

Even our current understanding of the universe requires our dispensing with logic and making exceptions for the rational. |
