Bobby Casey, the Clare fiddler, was often a guest at East London clubs like the Railway Tavern and the Knave of Clubs in the late 60s and early 70s. Who was his regular partner at the time?

Thanks.

You'll be able to find out somewhere in http://www.topicrecords.co.uk/a-few-good-tunes/files/inc/261cf51b41.pdf about Irish music in London. "By 1953, Willie and Bobby had moved on to London, and had fallen in with all the active musicians. Bobby must have played – very often in the
company of Andy Boyle or Tommy McCarthy – in every pub in Camden Town and Kentish Town at one time or another ... " p. 606.

Bobby Casey came up to the Northeast in the late 60s after we met him at the 'Favourite' pub and invited him to bring a trio. He chose to come with the aforementioned Tommy McCarthy on pipes- Tommy Maguire on accordion made up the trio.
They played a couple of clubs, including our Marsden Inn, but Bobby had a cousin who was a builder in Gateshead & a wonderful party was held there- I took a fancy to one jig he played & asked its name.
'Jasus I don't know, but I'm opening a bottle of wine just now, so we'll call it the 'Corkscrew' I've done that ever since.
I agree that Dermot Kearney is the man to talk to- or you might get more clues from his notes to the CD he did of Bobby some years ago?
