14 Dec 16 - 03:09 PM (#3826534) Subject: ADD (draft): Silly Old Fool (Brian Bedford) From: Joe Offer Good call, Joe. "Silly Old Fool" is on a 1993 album by Artisan called Breathing Space:Members of Artisan were Brian Bedford, Jacey Bedford and Hilary Spencer. Here's what I have so far. Can anyone fill in my weak spots? CHORUS Silly old fool, look at him there, Snoring away with his legs on the chair, oh, Anybody want him? What am I bid? I won him in a raffle and I can’t get rid. He’s no great looker, I have to admit, I’d hide him in a cupboard but I know he wouldn’t fit. [There?] He stings like a butterfly and bumbles like a bee; Someone has to love him, [love ???] but why choose me? CHORUS When I was a young lass, [trim and neat???] Along came a prince, and he swept me off my feet; Then he took me to his castle, had his wicked way, He’s been sitting [in my ???] ever since that day. CHORUS He’s got most of his teeth, and most of his hair; With very low mileage but an awful lot of wear; He’s got a funny little habit, I think you ought to know, But I’d better not tell you ‘cause it really doesn’t show. CHORUS He’s a snake, he’s a rat, but he’s cuddly like a Teddy; Though he eats like a horse, he’s a tiger in the bed, He is a silly old fool, but what can I do? I won him, so I’ll keep him; I’m an old fool, too. CHORUS |

One of the lasses in the folk club wants to sing this song and my friend and I are the backing and moral support at least that's the plan. I was tasked with finding the details so it shows how desperate things are. Joe N I knew that Mo had the words to this song because I sat next to her in Ugthorpe when she sang it just for you.If the electronic system failed I was going to have to start hunting you through the undergrowth through mutual friends. Joe O Thanks Joe for your help it's been a while since we last chatted but you remain as helpful as ever. To my other correspondents thank you for helping with the music I actually found a second version on you tube. Sadly Spotify hates me, I shall have to take the big guns to them and get one of my grandchildren to sort them out Regards Ray |
