30 Dec 16 - 11:17 AM (#3829565) Subject: BS: Give Arleen Matthews her job back From: Stower One story I read just before Christmas touched a nerve and, as a result, I've done something I've never done before: started an online petition. It concerns Arleen Matthews, now 48 and at the age her mother died of the illness she has herself, a widow of 5 years, with a son at college and not earning enough to pay her rent. She works for a housing organisation and has been suspended, in a cruel irony, for becoming homeless herself. My petition is for her to reinstated with immediate effect, the least she needs to gain a foothold on her life. The story and petition to Homes for Haringey is here. You can read the full story here. I hope you'll feel able to sign and pass this email on to others to do the same. Thank you for reading. |

01 Jan 17 - 12:53 PM (#3829853) Subject: RE: BS: Give Arleen Matthews her job back From: Stower Thank you, Jack and fat B, it's much appreciated. Unfortunately, the signatures are going up very slowly, perhaps because she's just one person, not a face in the news, and not a big issue that is the subject of a wider campaign, like fracking or Trump. And yet something of this small size, a personal case, is where people really can make a difference - if there are enough people. Thank you again. |
