I prefer Gozilla for automating and speeding up my downloads. And it's free (my favorite price).

I thought gargoyle was asking the sensible question, "how much faster is faster in this case?" But I have a tendency towards naivety.

Dear folks, I have recently begun lurking around the mudcat, YEARS after Susan gave me the URL, when I saw her at a getaway. Now I'm trying to make up for lost time, but I have a problem.

Can ANYTHING make my antique Mac any faster? I have an LC520, with a 7.something OS. As you can see I'm a REAL techie! I have AOL, with no other browser, and it is INCREDIBLY s l o w . I wear my finger out trying to scroll down a thread, which makes my carpal tunnel act up.

If either of the things mentioned above would help me, where do I get 'em? Is there some way to use the technology built into the mudcat to read through recent additions to the forum more quickly? I would really appreciate anything helpful anybody might offer.

Best wishes, Mary McCaffrey

Check DSL (Designated Subscriber Line) for your area and system.

It can give you close to what Max and Joe see...everyday. Cost about 40/month including service....no extra lines, so you save the cost of a second phone line.

kendall, Godzilla came with Netscape when I downloaded it. I don't know how else you get it (except like Dick said).
Blessings,
Barbara

Kendall- If you pick a browzer and search for "gozilla" (without the quotes), you'll be directed to a download site. If you don't have a pet browser, www.dogpile.com, www.northernlight.com and www.google.com all give you the results of many search engines.

and it looks like it has no 'D', Kendall, unlike the way you and I spelled it.

There are many programs out there which claim to facilitate 'faster' internet & downloads...I am in the process or trying to read reviews and such...I hate to install stuff & discover it don't work

It appears to be a spin-off/refinment of "Mozilla" the foundation uponwhich Netscape and IE are based.

Is this so?

Speaking--as usual--with no actual factual support for my opinion, I'd say that Gozilla predates Mozilla: it's a more likely coinage, having an easily recognizable connection. Mozilla would depend upon the prior existence of Gozilla to have any catch to it: Gozilla implies a monster way of getting someplace; Mozilla, after Gozilla, implies even faster than Gozilla. But, as I say, never having heard of either before, this is just idle speculation, that for which I have become famous...

Mr. B. Seed

Are You Baiting Me?

It has been your previous propensities to "speak with no factual support" that first caused us to first "cross swords" over Stranger in a Strange Land

A minicum of web background, and dozens of books, even the Dummies Series on (and clicking on veiw source, etc) will give you the derivation of the name....from its "Godzilla" root.

Go to this site Mozilla.org for some background reading.
