The Oprah Winfrey interview of Michelle was very good. There was an interview of Michelle and Barack by People Magazine was was pretty good. Oh, and now I find a final interview by National Public Radio. Oh, and here's the farewell Christmas Message, complete with the requisite dumb Barack jokes. The Barack-Michelle banter on his dumb jokes has been fun these eight years. I hope America gets their message. I spent the last few days writing a half-year grant report to pay a community organizer who works in our name to organize Hispanics in our community, people just trying to survive. How do we give these gentle people hope, in the face of the coming President? It's hard. The NPR interview is particularly thoughtful. Take a listen. -Joe- |

To draw back from the detail to look at overall principles and goals occasionally is essential, and this is a great example. I hope the incoming government has a view that, like this speech, goes beyond simple profit and loss accounts into a vision of what a good life for the citizens looks like. I can't say I am too confident but would be pleased to be wrong. |
