Origins: Ten/Five Little Frogs

So, I continue on my quest to reasearch all the songs in the Rise Up Singing Songbook - and to make some sense of them.

Here are the lyrics from the Digital Tradition:

GREEN SPECKLED FROGS
(Raffi)

Four green and speckled frogs sat on speckled log
Eating some most delicious bugs (yum yum!)
One jumped into the pool where it was nice and cool
Then there were 3 green speckled frogs

2,1, no green speckled frogs

Here's the Raffi recording:

OK, so the melody sounds like "My Gal's Corker," but not quite. Name that tune.

Hi everyone,
I am also curious about the origins of this song. I’ve known it since I was a kid, from the Raffi recording. Does anyone know the earliest date for it?
