The oldest Folk Club in the Sou'est of England is still going strong

60 years, well almost

Every Friday in the Band Room , above the social club

8.00 start , well 8.15 but you want to be in time

cos you dont want to be delayed by the queue at the bar for a reasonably priced pint.

That legend Vic Legg of Veteran records is also worth catching and he will be M Cing and that'll be worth the admission £4-£5 ALONE

TEA AND COFFEE AND BIKKIES AT HALF TIME , NO ORANGES

Always a great atmosphere, heckling and good chorus inging

Ah, haven't been there since you were at the Garland Ox! It's a bit of a long way from sunny Bude when you can't drink and drive. Our local was the Tree Inn in Stratton which John and Cheryl ran beautifully. That eventually gave way to a session which still goes on there. I don't suppose you can tell me the name of the wonderful chap who made a washboard for my little lad about 25 years ago? My son's 36 now but I've "inherited" that lovely washboard!

The last time I was there Tom McConville and Pauline Cato were the guests. I played some tunes on my harmonica and I remember the very bouncy wooden stage on which it was best if you didn't tap your foot when you were playing! Happy days!

Ha ha! I asked for that didn't I! But beware of tne Harmonica Man showing up. We always get the girls. If you have daughters, prepare to lock them up now!

I remember a get-together that us lot from Bude and the Bodmin lot had at the Welly in Boscastle in the days when Victor was the landlord there. Naturally, Vic was at the helm for the Bodmin contingent. Gotta be twenty-odd years ago now. Damned lively evening it was. Handbags and shanties at dawn! 😂

We should persuade Breezy to organise a minibus (free). Bodmin via Bude and Hayes. Nothing too unreasonable there! As we wouldn't be driving we could fill the band room bar's coffers. A win-win all round!

We used to to club trips by minibus from Swinton to Cleckhuddersfaxwyke or some such place. And they used to reciprocate. It is a good idea and fills folk clubs :-)

Ok so this hasnt dropped off the page, probably will now. Shwreck , stop trying to be sweet to Pensance, just cos you are grovelling for a return.
its till in its infancy anyway and you've not mentioned The Dreamers.Lovely little welcoming club. Always been very appreciative of my rare visits and contributions.
I like Dreamers Folk Club and Cathy, keep the dream alive.
