It's a bit of a long way from sunny Bude when you can't drink and drive. Our local was the Tree Inn in Stratton which John and Cheryl ran beautifully. That eventually gave way to a session which still goes on there. I don't suppose you can tell me the name of the wonderful chap who made a washboard for my little lad about 25 years ago? My son's 36 now but I've "inherited" that lovely washboard! The last time I was there Tom McConville and Pauline Cato were the guests. I played some tunes on my harmonica and I remember the very bouncy wooden stage on which it was best if you didn't tap your foot when you were playing! Happy days! |

Naturally, Vic was at the helm for the Bodmin contingent. Gotta be twenty-odd years ago now. Damned lively evening it was. Handbags and shanties at dawn! 😂 |

16 Jan 17 - 06:55 AM (#3832938) Subject: RE: Breezy in Bodmin Friday 20th Jan 17 From: Steve Shaw We should persuade Breezy to organise a minibus (free). Bodmin via Bude and Hayes. Nothing too unreasonable there! As we wouldn't be driving we could fill the band room bar's coffers. A win-win all round! |
16 Jan 17 - 07:10 AM (#3832940) Subject: RE: Breezy in Bodmin Friday 20th Jan 17 From: Dave the Gnome We used to to club trips by minibus from Swinton to Cleckhuddersfaxwyke or some such place. And they used to reciprocate. It is a good idea and fills folk clubs :-) DtG |
