I see someone else has revived a thread about the song "Pass it On"

Freedom doesn't come like a bird on the wing,
Doesn't come down like the falling rain,
You've got to work for it, fight for it,
Night and day for it,
And every generation has to win it again.

----
how about Joshua Fit the Battle of Jerico (and the walls come a-tumbling down)
some of "Guest"'s recommended songs directly related to the Vietnam war don't seem so timely to me though (not yet?)

That's OK Felipa-

1. Just give it a little time

or

2. Substitute "Iraq" or "Afghanistan" or "Syria" or the predominantly Muslim country of your choice.

Vietnam may have lasted 20 years, but we've been in Afghanistan 14 years plus & are catching up fast.

'Masters of War' seems appropriate and I especially like the bit about watching the coffin being lowered - Trump"s coffin, that is.

From: Tattie Bogle

Well, here's one I wrote myself, on the day I woke up to find that he had been elected. I posted it then on another thread, and was told it was unfair to orang-utans!
I'll leave you to guess which tune it is set to: certainly those who grew up with "Children's Favourites" on Saturday am radio in the UK will know!

TRUMP, TRUMP, TRUMP

From New York
A travelling businessman came,
But not an intelligent elephant,
No, a bloke with a funny name,
Mop of hair,
And face with a very fake tan,
O what a farce, he might well pass
For an outsize orang-utan.

Donald, th'orang-utan packed his cart
And trundled off to the golf course,
Off he went with a trumpety-trump,
Trump, Trump, Trump.
Doesn't want wind farms to blight his view
But happy to knock down some houses,
Said he was doing it for everyone's good,
Trump, Trump, Trump.
But soon bigger things were calling, far, far away,
He put himself up as a candidate
In the US election fray.
BUT, that was in April, and no-one believed
That Donald would ever pursue it:
Now you must agree how wrong you can be,
Trump, Trump, Trump.

Night by night,
He'd rant and point and rave,
When Donald was up on the podium
He looked so proud and brave,
Dirty tricks
Yon Donald did perform
But yet he just deluded them
And took the crowd by storm.

What a palaver for months on end,
Touring all over the country,
Hillary missed out Wisconsin, oh dear, but not
Trump, Trump, Trump.
Lawyers and FBI all muscled in
To ride on this huge roller-coaster,
Vote for the "lesser of evils" they said, not
Trump, Trump, Trump?

The Mexican border was calling, far, far away,
He'll send all those immigrants building his wall,
And leave them the other side of it,
While others are fleeing to Canada,
The moon or Mars or Australia,
What kind of country will America be, with
Trump, Trump, Trump?

On he went,
Trampling others down,
He only had one goal in life,
To take the President's crown.
Just how many people did he offend?
Which makes it such a mystery
Why they voted for him in the end.

All other candidates whittled away,
He had to face up to Ms Clinton,
TV debates, all fuelled with hate,
Trump, Trump, Trump.
Misogynist, racist and bigoted perv,
And don't mention emails from Hillary,
Lies and distortion, all out of proportion,
Trump, Trump, Trump.
Washington DC is calling, not so far away,
He'll be in The White House by January,
What horror, is all I can say.
BUT silver-tongued words will not change my mind,
Nor red baseball caps even tempt me,
Just keep your hands well off pussies and buttons, Trump, Trump, Trump!

Subject: Lyr Add: NATIONAL BROTHERHOOD WEEK (Tom Lehrer)
From: Peter the Squeezer

Another by Tom Lehrer : National Brotherhood Week

Oh, the white folks hate the black folks,
And the black folks hate the white folks.
To hate all but the right folks
Is an old established rule.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
Lena Horne and Sheriff Clarke are dancing cheek to cheek.
It's fun to eulogise
The people you despise,
As long as you don't let 'em in your school.

Oh, the poor folks hate the rich folks,
And the rich folks hate the poor folks.
All of my folks hate all of your folks,
It's American as apple pie.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
New Yorkers love the Puerto Ricans 'cause it's very chic.
Step up and shake the hand
Of someone you can't stand.
You can tolerate him if you try.

Oh, the Protestants hate the Catholics,
And the Catholics hate the Protestants,
And the Hindus hate the Muslims,
And everybody hates the Jews.

But during National Brotherhood Week, National Brotherhood Week,
It's national everyone-smile-at-one-another-hood week.
Be nice to people who
Are inferior to you.
It's only for a week, so have no fear.
Be grateful that it doesn't last all year!

Caribbeans been doing dechoukaj for centuries. Welcoming y'all to Third World politics with:

Harper Valley P.T.A. a song about self-righteous hypocrisy and Greig's Hall of the Mountain King

As if the fear, hate, arrogance, entitlement &c reflected here somehow magically materialized one recent November night? Puh-leeeze! Y'all just facing in the other direction. Nada mas.

Meryl Streep, meaning 'high brow' Creative Artist Agency and major Obama contributor Hollywood agent Bryan Lourd, is on about Trump and mixed martial arts (MMA) which is represented by 'low brow' William Morris Endeavor and Ari Emanuel. FYI they also did Trump's Miss Universe pageantry, still do for all I know.

Ari is brother to Rahm who was Obama's senior advisor and is now the Mayor of Chicago (aka Chi-raq) Fouler mouths than Trump could ever manage and their father Benjamin makes The Donald look like Gandhi in a fuzzy pink bunny suit.

And the Yanks (Carter, Obama, Trump same-same) have been 'banning Muslims' and other sundry Barbary Coasters since before they were united or states or their Marines had a Hymn to sing.

YT: Trump will never be president!

Subject: Lyr Add: I WAS BORN ABOUT TEN THOUSAND YEARS AGO
From: Bev and Jerry

We've been working up "God Bless the Grass" written by Malvina Reynolds in 1964.

Also, there's this one which we wrote and posted on another thread but it seems more appropriate here:

I WAS BORN ABOUT TEN THOUSAND YEARS AGO (Trump)

1. I was born about ten thousand years ago
And there's nothing in this world that I don't know
I can handle any crisis, I can even wipe out Isis
And I'll lick the guy that says it isn't so

2. I am Satan and immigrants I deplore
I want Mexicans and Muslims out the door
And from my tower tweetin', the lies I am repeatin'
And I swear that I believe 'em to the core

3. I saw Hillary out on the campaign trail
And thought I'd never live to tell the tale
But I got diabolic and became quite hyperbolic
And said I thought she ought to be in jail

4. I heard Samson had very tiny hands
I told Columbus that I would own this land
And for Ivana's little kiddies, I bought half of New York City
And to Atlantic City took my brand

5. I taught Solomon his little A-B-C's
I bragged about my own depravities
I sometimes went astray shortly past my wedding day
And I never even made apologies

6. Then Marla, she fell in love with me
We were married owing to her pregnancy
But I fooled around and shook her, found Melania like a hooker
Then I started up a university

7. I was born about ten thousand years ago
And there's nothing in this world that I don't know
I'm a climate change denier and a frequent falsifier
And I'll lick the guy that say it isn't so

I keep thinking of Elvis Costello's Tramp The Dirt Down . It was originally written about Margaret Thatcher and includes this verse:

Well I hope I don't die too soon
I pray the lord my soul to save
Oh I'll be a good boy, I'm trying so hard to behave
Because there's one thing I know, I'd like to live
Long enough to savor
That's when they finally put you in the ground
I'll stand on your grave and tramp the dirt down

For those in the UK who can get BBCiPlayer, do try to catch Karine Polwart's opening number at the first concert of this year's Celtic Connections: powerful and emotional stuff. (She also wrote an earlier version for when Trump came and destroyed part of the Aberdeenshire coast in pursuit of building his new golf course - as also mentioned in the first verse of my song.)

From Andy Cohen;

Here is what Craig wrote: Mister Trump Don't Like It

Mr. Trump don't like it, ain't gonna have it here (x3)
No nasty women, nobody trans or queer
Mr. Trump don't like it, ain't gonna have it here

I'm told the Scientists all jumped up and began to shout (x3)
"Brother, time to cool the heat is just a-runnin' out!"
Mr.Trump don't like it, ain't gonna have it here

I'm told the Doctors and Nurses all jumped up and had a fit (x3)
"We ain't got all the poor folks on insurance yet!"
Mr. Trump don't like it, ain't gonna have it here

I'm told the Billionaires turned 'round and began to grin (x3)
"Lord, I believe we'll never have to pay no tax again!"
Mr. Trump don't like it, ain't gonna have it here

I'm told the Preachers looked around, said,
"Sister, why don't you hush your voice?' (x3)
"I'd rather see you die than let you make a choice!"
Mr. Trump don't like it, ain't gonna have it here

I'm told the fragile white boys began to whine and pout (3x)
"Lock the Black folks up, kick the Brown folks out!"
Mr. Trump don't like 'em, ain't gonna have 'em here!

You don't like my peaches, don't shake my tree (x3)
You don't like my fruit, let my orchard be
Mr. Trump, we don't like it, ain't gonna have it here

Here are a few that seem timely to me:

A Piece of the Wall (by Charlie King) - About the tearing down of the Berlin Wall and all the walls that still remain to be torn down.

Stand Up (by Mike Stern, recorded by Charlie King and Karen Brandow) (based on the words of Pastor Neimeier who said "First they came for the Communists, but I wasn't a communist so I didn't stand up...)

Imagine (You Have Healthcare) - parody version of Imagine w/new lyrics by Charlie King.

Government on Horseback (by Si Kahn) - Written for the Reagan era, but still sadly relevant.

And, as someone else above mentioned, just about anything by Anne Feeney!

And just about anything by Roy Zimmerman.

And, a traditional song - "Rigs of the Time" (Honesty's all out of fashion, these are the rigs of the time). This one's been haunting me lately.

Variation on the Beale Street Shieks' great 1920s recording of the Memphis classic from the Boss Crump era, "Mr. Crump Don't Like It" (it's on YouTube)— I see I'm not the first to have this idea, either —

Mr. Trump Don't Like It

Refrain
Well, Mr. Trump don't like it, but we gonna have it in here (2)
Mr. Trump don't like it, we're gonna have it in here,
Ain't nobody standin' 'round tremblin' with fear,
Uh, Mr. Trump don't like it, but we gonna have it here.

1.
I saw the brother jumped up, turn around and began to shout (2)
Brother jumped up, an' began to shout,
Says, I'm so glad they gonna throw Trump out,
Mr. Trump don't like it, but we gonna have it here.

2.
Sister turned around, Brother, why'n the hell don't you hush? (2)
Sister turned around, Brother, why don't you hush,
You were the one said Trump was better than Bush,
Mr. Trump don't like it, but we gonna have it here.

3.
Well, I jumped up, turned around and begun to grin (2)
I jumped up, turn 'round, begin to grin,
Now ain't you sad you vote to bring Trump in,
Mr. Trump don't like it, but we gonna have it here.

4.
Now they all talkin' Mr. Trump done his coo dee tat, (2)   (coup d'etat)
They all talkin' 'bout his coo dee tat,
They linin' up people with a baseball bat,
Mr. Trump don't like it, but we gonna have it here.

5.
You can't have my peches, Mr. Trump, don't you shake my tree (2)
You can't have my peaches, don't you shake my tree,
You can't have my freedom, let my freedom be,
Mr. Trump don't like it, but we gonna have it here.

We've got to find a better way

This criminal nation has got to learn
Discrimination's fires burn

Millions marchin in the street
To an anti-fascist protest beat
They've had their fill of all this shit
And no they ain't gettin over it

This criminal nation better change its ways
Before discrimination's fires blaze

The Lesser Of Two Evils Is Evil Too
by Reggie Miles © 2016 All rights reserved

Every four years we're invited to say
How we'd like things to go our way
The hopefuls line up on display
Ready to kiss all the babies in the USA

Wrapped in the flag they stand on stage
Spouting platitudes to incite electorate rage
The two parties promise as they share their plan
How those others can't fix it but we sure can

That one's a hater, it's plain to see
I'm a different gender, so vote for me
That one's a liar, who wants only war
I'll make our country great once more

Each side is careful to make their case
How they're the least evil choice in the race
They repeat in every ad on TV
It's plain that they are far more evil than me

Choose to fear party one or to fear party two
That's the two party choice they offer to you
Choose the less evil is what they want us to do
But the lesser of two evils, is evil too

The lesser of two evils is not my choice
I've been listening to a different voice
A voice of hope and love in my ears
Driving away the hate and fears

He's the flimflam man
Everyone knows that he's a sham
He's the flimflam man
Everyone knows he's a sham
He'll deceive, mislead and betray you
Whenever he can

He's a hornswogglin guy
Tailor-made to lie and cheat
He's a hornswogglin guy
Tailor-made to lie and cheat
Ain't nobody nowhere
He won't mistreat

He comes to town
With his two-faced funk
Tryin' to shake you down
With his con and skunk

He'll play ya for a sucker
He's the rip-off king
He's a real fast-talker
Oh you know what I mean

He's the flimflam man
Everyone knows he's a sham
He'll bamboozle and defraud you
Every way that he can

You know that deception
Is his middle name
That low down swindle
Is his only game

He's here to dupe and fool ya
With his double-cross
His hustle is to screw ya
And stiff ya with a loss

He's the flimflam man
Everyone knows he loves to scam
He'll sting, fleece and bleed
Hose and ream you, like only he can

Drumpft's a chump!
A narcissistic grump
An Oompa Loompa Hitler
We need to dump

He's a bigot
And doesn't get it
You voted for him?
You'll soon regret it!

His university failed
His airlines went down
His casinos closed
His vodka's not around

His TV show canceled
His mortgage company's broke
His marriages divorced
He's a bankrupt joke

He's not the choice
Of the electorate
He's a hate spewing
Bully Klandidate

He's a xenophobe
And a racist
He's a bad comb over
Misogynist

Do we like him? No!
Tell him he can go!
And hump his lyin' rump
Down loser road

There is a (very fine but rather hard to sing) song about Israel's wall by Leon Rosselson. Netanyahu just told us all that Trump's is the same deal.

Anyone know the tune for this?

Ooh, I like the Crump one.
Here's one I made up ( under the pseudonym Pussygate Galore) and sang at the Women's March in Fort Bragg.

Floozies

I did not kiss her on the plane
I did not kiss her on the train
I did not kiss her on the lips
I did not grab her by the hips.

I did not grope her in a pub
I did not grope her at my club
I did not push her towards the bed
Or any other thing she said.

I'll sue them all for telling lies
        And I will not apologize
        If stupid floozies cannot see
No one respects them more than me.

I was not crass, I did not flirt
I did not reach beneath her skirt
That is a vicious Clinton smear
I am the only victim here.

She is ugly, she is ill
Bet she cheats on Cheatin' Bill
I will lock her in a cell
With that loudmouth (bleep) Michelle.

        So that foreign-born Obama
Has to do it with a llama
I will make them all lament
As soon as I am president.
Yes, I will make them all repent
As soon as I am president.

Please sing (to any good tune, such as Hernando's Hideaway) and pass it on

Country singer Toby Keith sang this song at Trump's inaugural concert.
The concert was reviewed by the New York Times, the Washington Post, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, and the Guardian, and not one of them commented on this song.

Grandpappy told my pappy, back in my day, son
A man had to answer for the wicked that he done
Take all the rope in Texas find a tall oak tree,
Round up all them bad boys hang them high in the street
For all the people to see...

You got to saddle up your boys, you got to draw a hard line
When the gun smoke settles we'll sing a victory tune
And we'll all meet back at the local saloon

Donald Trump watches Toby Keith sing "Beer for My Horses" at Trump's inaugural concert, Friday January 19th.

From: GUEST,Jack Warshaw

Hey guys, Woody's "Old Man Trump" (itself spun from "Aint got no Home in this World") has given birth to numerous spin offs including this one, called "You Aint my President" soon to be issued on my next album. The demo is already on Youtube if you can't wait. Number 6 in my arsenal of Trump songs. Use it freely. Folksongs ARE dangerous.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xJ_MLnOEydg

You Ain’t My President                        Jack Warshaw 2017

I can see and I suppose that goddam Trump he shows
Just how much hate he sows in the world of human kind
When you took that oath of office, right there I knew for sure
That this land was not my land any more.

Chorus
Oh, Mister Trump, you ain’t my President
My country’s on the rocks and my soul is badly bent
You don’t fool me at all, your pride will see you fall
No, no, Mr Trump, you ain’t my President

You cheated, lied and stole, to fix those voting polls
The promises you made were paid by human souls
Now you have the power, you take instead of give
You’re using up the country, how can the country live?

        Chorus

You deny the Earth’s in danger, you sponsor greed and waste
You want to ban all immigrants of any different faith
You think women are just playthings, you crush poor people’s health
You think that a person’s dignity is only based on wealth

        Chorus

Fake news is the tool you use to hide the deeds you do
But you can’t hide the truth that the biggest fake is you
Now everybody knows it, and you will soon be gone
Damn you, Mr Trump and the horse you rode in on.

        Chorus

I learned the tune from a Boston player forty years ago, and had never heard of Captain Pugwash til I tried playing the tune here in a Northern California session last year and was stopped from playing the tune by a local Irish expat who grew up with "Pugwash". For a history of the tune go to TheSession.org: https://thesession.org/tunes/1408, and decide for yourself if it is Irish. At least its not wasting a beloved melody on a pile of shit.

Subject: Lyr Add: THEY'RE TAKING IT AWAY (Ian Robb)
From: CupOfTea

Canadian Ian Robb's brilliant They're Taking It Away covers lots of the points that need making. He's just fine with having it Americanized or modified for specific protests. I've highlighted the changes I made:

Chorus
Oh, they're taking it away, Yes they're taking it away
They are taking all the good things You can hear the people say
And they'll take it all tomorrow If they don't take it today
From the poor and sick and helpless, They are taking it away.

Oh our government's elected in the democratic way
A-whining at the cost of all the things they have to pay
And the bully-boys on Wall Street, you can hear the bastards say,
"To hell with paying taxes, pull the safety-net away!"

If you're down upon your luck and need to keep the wolf at bay
Just don't rely on welfare or the dole to pay your way
For the rich, they have decided not another cent to pay
You can whistle for your supper for they've taken it away

If you're native, black, or Asian, if you're feminist or gay
If you're just a little different from the most of us today
If you want to make your point or if you want to have your say
You can spit into the wind for they have taken it away

If you're battered by your husband and you need a place to stay
You'd best get down upon your knees and quickly learn to pray
For the women's center's phone was disconnected yesterday
And there's no-one left to talk to, now they've taken it away

If it's ever your misfortune in a hospital to stay
You'd best not be impatient for a bed on which to lay
For your health ain't worth the taxes that the healthy have to pay
And the beds were too expensive, so they've taken them away

Oh there's those that have and those that don't and those that are okay
And there's those who understand that fairness is the only way
But there's those that are so comfortable they look the other way
And they vote for all the villains who would take it all away

So if you've health and wealth and wisdom stop and spare a thought today
For those who don't and those who can't, there is no other way
If we don't get out and vote to save the USA
There won't be a Constitution when they take it all away

PHARAOH
by Richard Thompson

Pharaoh he sits in his tower of steel
The dogs of money all at his heel
Magicians cry "Oh truth! Oh real!"
We're all working for the Pharaoh

A thousand eyes, a thousand ears
He feeds us all, he feeds our fears
Don't stir in your sleep tonight, my dears
We're all working for the Pharaoh

It's Egypt land, Egypt land
We're all living in Egypt land
Tell me, brother, don't you understand
We're all working for the Pharaoh

Hidden from the eye of chance
The men of shadow dance a dance
We're all struck into a trance
We're all working for the Pharaoh

The idols rise into the sky
Pyramids soar, Sphinxes lie
Head of dog, Osiris eye
We're all working for the Pharaoh

And it's Egypt land, Egypt land
We're all living in Egypt land
Tell me, brother, don't you understand
We're all working for the Pharaoh

I dig a ditch, I shape a stone
Another battlement for his throne
Another day on earth is flown
We're all working for the Pharaoh

Call it England, you call it Spain
Egypt rules with a whip and chain
Moses free my people again
We're all working for the Pharaoh

And it's Egypt land, Egypt land
We're all living in Egypt land
Tell me, brother, don't you understand
We're all working for the Pharaoh

Pharaoh he sits in his tower of steel
Around his feet the princes kneel
Far beneath we shoulder the wheel
We're all working for the Pharaoh

From: GUEST,Kristoffer Ross

This was written, or at least co-written, by my good acquaintance Sebastian Durfee.
To the Tune of “Hey there Delilah,” by the Plain White T’s, apparently. I don’t know, for certain, I’m not up on Rock music.
    Enjoy,
Kristoffer

Hey there, Melania

Hey there, Melania, what’s it like in New York City,
I’ve been living here in Washington and Damn, this house is shitty,
Yes, it’s true,
Trump tower has a better view,
It’s huger too.

Hey there Melania, I know times are getting hard,
‘Cuz first with Bowling Green, now Sweden,
We’re not safe in our own yard,
We’ll build a wall,
We’ll make it 50 stories tall,
No fun at all,

Oh, It’s lonely in D.C. (five times)

Hey there Melania, all my ratings are tremendous,
But I think I liked it better when I starred on “the Apprentice”
I’m alone,
Why don’t the Children ever phone,
I’m on my own.

Hey there Melania, I’ve got so much stuff to do,
Why did I make so many promises, I’ll never follow through,
It’s just the worst,
Pence keeps reminding me to work,
He’s such a jerk.

Oh, It’s lonely in D.C. (four times)

I said I’d make things great again, now here I am in Washington,
I really only did it for the fame
I didn’t read the overview, there’s actually a job to do,
I miss when this was only just a game,
Melania, I admit to you, I clearly didn’t think this through,
I really thought my life would stay the same,
But now it’s lame.

Hey there Melania, you be good and don’t you miss me,
Four more years and I’ll be home again, and back to winning bigly,
Wait and see,
Just four more years and I’ll be free,
I won’t be stuck here in D.C.

Hey there Melania, here’s to me,
It’s only me.
Oh, It’s lonely in D.C. (five times)
Repeat refrain on a “Woa” syllable.

Subject: Lyr Add: THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN' BACK
From: Mossback

"I wrote these lyrics within half an hour of seeing Donald Trump's inaugural speech last Friday evening and played it in Salisbury that night. With apologies to Bob Dylan."

Come gather round people wherever you roam
And admit that the waters around you have grown
And accept it that soon you’ll be drenched to the bone
For the climate is obviously changing
But the man in the White House says no ones to blame
For the times they are a changin back

Come Mexicans, Muslims, LGBT and Jews
Keep your eyes wide for what’s on the news
For President Trump is expressing his views
And I feel that the mob he’s inciting
Will soon break your windown
And burn down your schools
For the times they are a changin back

Come mothers and daughters throughout the land
A bunch of old men have come up with a plan
Never mind your ambitions they have better ideas
How you should be behaving
So get back in the kitchen and button your lip
For the times they are a-changing back

In the land of the free and the home of the brave
Martin Luther King is spinning in his grave
To see a bigoted bully taking the stage
And he calls upon us to be faithful
To the ideas he died for in another age
For the times they are a-changing back

The line it is drawn and the curse it is cast
The slow one now will later be fast
As the prison now will later be past
Let’s hold on to that idea for a moment
And the first one now will later be last
For the times they need a changin.

Here is a song for the creep in the White House,
May his balls rot and fall off in the breeze,
May he feel nauseous and may his guts fester,
May he drop dead while he's seventy-three.

Subject: Lyr Add: THE BALLAD OF ONE-TERM DONALD
From: GUEST,the og

The Ballad of One-Term Donald or…Let’s Go No Trump
Bill Ogden (2020)        Tune = “Son of a Gambolier” (perhaps best recognized as “Ramblin’ Wreck from Georgia Tech” or “Come On and Join the Air Force”)

Donald Trump took to the stump and stole the U.S.A.
He’d rave and vent as President ’til kindness went away.
In time his Cab’net hosted only shill and n’er-do-well,
Trump behaved as Putin craved; the country went to hell.

Donald’s wall, as I recall, became his shining star,
Ol’ Mike Pence sat on his fence assenting from afar.
Take back your huddled masses, our doors are tightly shut,
No peace in sight unless you’re white; that’s the scuttlebutt.

Milania, her ma and pa, all called Slovenia home,
As immigrants they got their chance beneath the golden dome.
And now that they are settled, forget about the rest,
Just buy those frocks with cash from stocks and struggle to be best.

Donald ran Republican and took the party down,
McConnell’d back up Donald as he shut the Senate down.
Their only legislation, a tax break for the few,
Don and Mitch, hey, life’s a bitch; too bad for me and you.

Trump tried and tried, some say he lied, to get dirt on his foes,
Though quite in vain Ukrainian pressure points were chose.
Alas, the more he meddled, the worse it would become,
There you go, it’s quid pro quo, time to depose the bum.

Tragically magical, the process came unwound,
By house impeached, by Senate breached, consensus was not found.
A trial without witnesses seems to me uncouth,
Party line was, by design, more powerful than truth.

Now you and I can mount a try to make our country whole,
All it takes for all our sakes is eyes upon the goal.
Don’t leave the job to others, keep liberty afloat,
Avoid those ruts get off your butts let’s all get out and vote.

Subject: Lyr Add: DANCING REVOLUTION
From: GUEST,crowlibrarian

May as well add one of those I've penned -
Dancing Revolution
Dancing revolution (1-30-2020) key of G
      G                                                   C                                 G
It’s troubled times we live in, there’s troubled times we’ve known
G                                              A7                        D
Troubled times in Washington, troubled times at home
                  G                                                    C                               G
This might help us not to lose hope, when we see more wrong than right
                      C                         G                              D                           G
Cause there’s plenty of troubles all around, (there’s) plenty of ways to fight

chorus:
C                                  G
We can dance, create a dancing revolution
             D                              G               G7
We can sing, singing out for joy and for change
             C                                                       G
There’s much that I am sad/mad about, sometimes I want to drink and pout
       D                                             D7                         G
But I’ll be damned if those assholes (bullies) have their way

There’s danger in the White House, a bully and a liar
He’ll grab you, hurt you, smear your name, he’ll set this world on fire
It’s up to us to stand strong, resist all that we can
Help those in need, take to the streets, and here’s some more to plan

We can dance….

This planet’s needs to cool down and there’s babies thrown in jail
Drones and bombs kill families, there’s poisons in our wells
Millions work in poverty, the well-to-do don’t care
There’s lots to do, but party too, so it’s not just a nightmare

When you can dance…

Subject: Lyr Add: THE DAY DEMOCRACY DIED
From: Joe Offer

"The Day Democracy Died" Sung by The Founding Fathers:
Very clever photo editing.

An excerpt:

A long long time ago
A Tuesday in November
When that sinking feeling laid us low
And we knew if he had his way
That we’d all live to curse the day
When decency received a fatal blow

His bankruptcies got no attention
Pussy-grabbing — barely mentioned
Promising a great wall
He swore to make tax rates fall

I still remember how I tried
To have sympathy for his third bride
But something rumbled deep inside
The day democracy died
but...

No, don’t let democracy die
He’s a famous ignoramus — can’t tell truth from a lie
And if he wins we’ll kiss our country goodbye
Singin’ vote for anyone but this guy
Vote for anyone but this guy

And I have to say that I still have sympathy for the third bride - Free Melania!

GOD AND THE ORANGE CLOWN
(Ian Robb)

When your forests turn to ash,
When your fields all turn to dust,
When your islands are awash,
How will you choose; who will you trust?
When the mudslides hurtle down,
Who will you turn to for recourse?
When your greens all fade to brown,
Who will you blame; who will you curse?

And still you go to church to pray,
Leaving your children to atone.
This world you’ve left in disarray
Is not God’s work; it is your own.

When tornados wreck your town,
When the tempest scours your coast,
Will you still heed the Orange Clown,
Will you still cheer his every boast?
When it’s time to make your choice,
Whose truth, whose lies will you believe?
Will you ignore the braying voice?
Will you refuse to be deceived?

Or will you go to church to pray,
Leaving your children to atone?
This world you’ve left in disarray
Is not God’s work; it is your own.

When at last the seas run dry
And when rocks melt in the sun
And when you can no more deny,
Then you’ll see what you have done.

Yet still you go to church to pray,
Leaving your children to atone,
This world you’ve left in disarray
Is not God’s work; it is your own.

Here's a song title that only needs a tune and lyrics, "Don't Drop the Soap, Donald".

TRUMPSONG

To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
I ain't about to bite my tongue, I've got too much to say.

Your president's a criminal, as if you weren't aware,
My president will sell us out to please the Russian bear,
Our president is treasonous, the Senate doesn't care,
There's plenty in the sloppin' trough for they can get their share.

America is for the rich, as if you couldn't tell,
Our government works for the rich, the rest can go to Hell,
Good healthcare is for the rich and I ain't feelin' well,
There's corruption in the capital, a stench that you can smell.

If your mama was a Mexican then Trump won't have you here,
If your father practiced Islam then Trump won't have you here,
If you're L or G or B or T then Trump won't have you near,
It's homogenized conformity that keeps you in the clear.

To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
I ain't about to shut my mouth, I've got too much to say.

Compassion truth and fair play have come under attack,
I think that it's about time we took our country back,
So never vote for anyone who's got a superpac,
And if the tax cut's only for the rich, give them bums the sack.

If a program helps the suffering, it's going to get the sack,
There is viciousness in politics that goes right to the top,
If they don't like a question, they give the questioner a pop,
But you and I know what do, to make this madness stop.

If your machine is out of whack, you give it one big thump,
If you're going to drain the DC swamp, you'll need a mighty pump,
If you want to make this county great again, first get rid of Trump,
And take those others of his ilk and send them to the dump.

To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
You ain't about to hold me back, I've got too much to say.

Do you suppose the one per cent react with glee and mirth,
While they're making obscene fortunes from the rape of mother earth,
They,ve been greedy piglets from the moment of their birth,
Nothing matters to them but their personal net worth.

And they're making filthy lucre off the backs of the working poor,
They think that's what us commoners were put on this Earth for,
No matter how much wealth accrued, they think that they need more,
Why if there's a dollar to be made, they'll even stat a war.

Koch brothers and Walton's and Haliburton too,
They think they own the government, and I suppose they do,
But we need to take it back from them and tell them they are through,
Cause Woody taught me that this land was made for me and you.

To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
To go along to get along has never been my way,
I ain't about to bite my tongue, or shut my mouth or be held back,
I've got to... much to... say.
