Can't remember who wrote it but here are the verses I wrote to go with it. If you have any, feel free to post em! All Around My Hat All around my hat, for a twelvemonth and a day, And if anyone should ask me the reason why I'm wearing it It's my bloody willow and my bloody hat So fare thee well cold Winter and fare thee well cold frost Nothing have I gained and nothing will I have lost From love and its ilk, I surely do stay away You're a fine and charming laddie, run along, go and play The other day I bought me a fine diamond ring Cause I'm not waiting on a guy to buy me anything And if he should e'er offer, chances are I'll smile and say You're a fine and charming laddie, run along, go and play It's a quarter pound of reasons and a half a pound of sense A large sprig of thyme and a bunch of prudence You mix them all together and all I will ever say: You're a fine and charming laddie, run along, go and play *note:* Not sure what the general opinion of filks is but it's my way of making a way overplayed song palatable...at least to me.. Enjoy, as you hum through them you have to imagine it being performed to a room full of singers, all of whom know the original, by a 5 foot pneumatic redhead with much skill and oomph. |
