Archie Fisher debut album re-release

Subject: Archie Fisher debut album re-release
From: Ross Campbell

The Matt Hyland thread prompted me to look for Archie Fisher albums on eBay/Amazon. Archie Fisher's debut LP, which I practically wore out, was where I first encountered the song. The album seemed to disappear into the Dave Bulmer abyss for years, with the occasional spotting of allegedly CD-R versions.

Just came across this on Amazon, available March 3rd 2017, £11.90 + £1.26 unless you spend £20

Released on the Chariot Records label, also available from Proper Records Distribution from Friday 24th February 2017, £10.49 post free.

I cannot recommend this album highly enough. The choice of songs is excellent, while the musical arrangements are as tasteful as you could wish for.

Other Archie Fisher and Barbara Dickson albums also appear to have been recently re-released by Chariot Records (Orfeo and Thro' Recent Years).

WoW! Thanks Ross. Yes, I still love this album and won't relinquish my LP record!!

Archie made other gooduns too; however, IMHO, "Orfeo" wasn't one of them :) Ah well, 99 outa 100 ain't bad!

Cheers!

anyone have information about CHARIOT Records ??
There is a USA Iowa based company of that name, but don't
see the Archie Fisher albums listed.
US Amazon lists the album at comparable price (perhaps a bit less
expensive), which usually implies it is US based label, or strong
US distribution. US Amazon imports are considerably more expensive
(usually) than buying from a Euro source.

Thomas.

Archie is playing at Doncaster Roots on 3 March. Some tickets still available at

He is being supported by the excellent Pete Davis, who I haven't seen since he used to occasionally come to the old Worksop club over thirty five years ago..

Thomas Stern - Discogs lists Chariot Records in Wales

https://www.discogs.com/label/211946-Chariot-Records

The Proper Music listing includes a number of Chariot Records' releases of Barbara Dickson albums. She and Archie Fisher co-operated on several albums and they had individual and joint albums released on the Decca label.

I bought Archie Fisher, Orfeo and Thro' the Recent Years from Amazon and just got the latter two album. The Amazon store said these albums were on the Chariot Records label but the CDs I got are on Gonzo Multimedia with the issue numbers CTVP015CD and CTVPCD016. The essays in the booklets are dated June and August 2016 so the CDs *are* recent reissues.

Ah, I found a reference: Chariot Records seems to be a sublabel of Gonzo Media Group specialising in Barbara Dickson:

"Chariot, is the label which releases albums from successful singer and actress, Barbara Dickson. To date the label has released three critically and commercially successful albums from Barbara. These were 'Time and Tide' in 2008 and then in 2009, 'Full Circle' and the double live album 'In Concert'."
