March Press Room [NH] Shanty Sing

12 Mar 17 - 06:58 PM (#3844527)
Subject: March Press Room [NH] Shanty Sing

The March Shanty, Forebitter and Foc's'le Ballad Session will be this Saturday, March 18, 2017, from 3:30 to 7:30 PM at The Press Room on Daniel Street in Portsmouth, NH.

Maybe this week's weather mayhem will be over on Wednesday (where it might still interfere with my Voicearound session; sigh), though Accuweather suggests we may have some more snow on Friday with possible flurries on Saturday.

Let's get together and sing and drive the winterish weather away! Live, participatory music -- especially singing with friends! -- makes the world a better place and us more healthy. And definitely improves our disposition.

Looks as if the snow squalsl on Saturday will be south of Portsmouth. So I should be able to make it.

Cheerily,

Weather's supposed to be reasonably good, partly sunny, and even reasonably warm.

So, are we singing Irish sea shanties?

Since we laid in sufficient supplies of bread and milk, we survived the predicted White Armageddon (which turned out to be 5.5 inches of HEAVY goop down my way), so it looks like I can plan on being there.

I still have the dregs of the Cayamo crud, and a workshop that afternoon, but will try to stop by later. In other words, not sure, but I haven't been for so long I'd really like to be there.

Is the Cayamo crud catchy? Sounds awful!

Cruise crud. It started 24 days ago, so I'd guess it hasn't been "catchy" for quite a while. Besides, it doesn't seem to want to leave ME, anyway.

Just (12:45 pm -- 15 minutes ago) got a call from a fellow named Steve in Hampton who just found the session on some websit and called for more information. Pretty good chance of seeing him today.

Sorry it's taken me so long to post. I hope I smiled and faked it so no one noticed on Saturday that I was in the depths of my St. Patrick's Day Blue Funk (and this year was a convergence of a whole lot of underlying stuff) -- some people have trouble with the Christmas or end of the year holidays; I have trouble with St. Patrick's Season. I think I've snapped out of it -- I'm out of bed and dressed and everything. And getting stuff done.

Anyway, we had quite a turnout! Including Brian Dunn whom I haven't seen for close to ten years. The crew was me, Hutch, Ranger1, Charlie, Dianne, Bill & Gina Dunlap, a full complement of Finns -- Jim, Gail, Emily, and Amanda, Don Hale, Bill & Carol, Mike Modern, Jeff Keller & Persis, April & Eric, Justine for a little bit, Bruce MacIntyre, and Gail& Janice.

Steve, alas, was a no-show.
