anthrodynia

n. a state of exhaustion with how shitty people can be to each other, typically causing a countervailing sense of affection for things that are sincere but not judgmental, are unabashedly joyful, or just are.

Seems to chime with more than a few threads recently

find others in - the Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows

I like those new definitions Mr Red.
Especially 'onism', where you look at the departure board at the airport, and wish it were possible to visit all those places, but realise you have only one body and can only be in one place at once. I've done that loads of times!

Mr, Red used the word "exclave" on the DST thread. I'd never heard it before, (neither had my spell checker) but it has been duly added to my vocabulary. Now I have friends and relatives who live in an enclave (Safety Harbor, FL which is completely surrounded by Clearwater except on its waterfront side) and an exclave (Valparaiso, IN which is in the Central Time Zone due to its economic ties to nearby Chicago, while most of Indiana is in the Eastern Time Zone).

I also live in an enclave, and use the word regularly, defining it for the listener about every third time I use it.

Your page won't load this morning. The new old word in my vocabulary is kakistocracy: "a state or country run by the worst, least qualified, or most unscrupulous citizens. The word was coined by English author Thomas Love Peacock in 1829."
