25 Jun 17 - 09:00 AM (#3862819) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: When You Hear The First Whippoorwill Cal From: Jim Dixon The song was originally called THE WHIP-POOR-WILL'S SONG. It was written by Harrison Millard and published in 1865. Lyrics and links to sheet music have been posted in another thread: Lyr Req: Whip-Poor-Will's Song (Harrison Millard). It is a very common thing that compound words that we now spell without hyphens were once spelled with hyphens. This is a good thing to keep in mind when searching for old music. |
