From: GUEST,Larry the Radio Guy Some of you may be interested in my latest episode of my "Musical Therapy" podcast.....as I think that Parallel Universe has been discussed before on a mudcat forum. This one connects it more with music. The father of Mark Oliver Everett (of The Eels) was Hugh Everett----a physicist considered 'off his rocker' because he challenged Niels Bohr's explanation of quantum mechanics that tried to explain how an atom can be in two places at once, as being due to the particle changing as soon as it is deserved. He mathematically demonstrated that instead, every time a decision is made another universe is created of all the decisions we didn't make, so there a number of alternate realities. This program includes a couple excerpts from the BBC video Parallel Lives Parallel Worlds, a couple Eels songs, other songs relevant to Parallel Universes, and one fascinating parody of Bohemian Rhapsody by a McGill University physics student. From: Jack Campin The "alternate realities" idea was done in fiction by Borges in his story|"The Garden of Forking Paths", and the Australian composer Richard Meale wrote a big orchestral piece structured after it - the idea of parallel aleatorism was used by several composers in the 60s. You get other versions of it in Bernd Alois Zimmermann's "Die Soldaten" and in the SF of Philip K. Dick (set to music by Tod Machover in "Valis", a piece I haven't heard). Meale's piece was quite early and I don't think he ever wrote anything as interesting afterwards. |

Demonstrated isn't really the right word - he proposed that as a mathematically consistent way of interpreting the observations, and further thatthis should be accepted as corresponding with reality. |

Everyone should have a cosmology that they revisit and discover the changes within and without. The quantum state of the mind may indeed have sensory apparatus at its central vesicles that allow change in the void of space energy to be sensed. Check out Stuart Hameroff. My background is neuropsychology and the study of cosmology. There are some marvelous examples of music I have found interspersed in the new Twin Peaks soundtrack that may interest/amaze you. Are you familiar with 'Down the Rabbit Hole'? bbl |

Some of its episodes are applicable to your discipline. The episode called something like 6th sense and demonstrates that prescience of mind, psychic phenomena and sensing a flexible time is grounded in science more than we thought. There is a quantum connection in those phenomena. The concept of parallel universe allows the mind to imagine second chances and overcome the regret of poor choices which I can see to be helpful in counseling/therapy. Do I have it right? While in practice I used music in some hypnosis sessions but learned one must be very careful of the lyrics. ('Take the long road home' became a real post hypnotic suggestion afterwards) No harm done but there was concern by some of the subject driving in a fugue state. Lyric free is best for me in most cases. Down the Rabbit Hole is a 15 year old DVD that explores the realities and conjectures for human consciousness. I am open to PM cheers |

If so you know the more the process is watched the more likely it is to change into a non wave diffraction which is the simple particle pattern. This is key to the idea that quantum events can be manipulated into a basic polarized state compared to the spectrum of wave complexities. What is the premise for you posting here? To gain music leads, Quantum education, cosmology and/or psychology> What do you want? "any feedback" is vague. |

From: GUEST,Larry the Radio Guy Donuel, as somebody who barely passed highschool physics, my understanding of the mathematics and physics behind quantum theory and parallel universe theory is virtually zilch. The feedback? Probably more related to the podcast itself, as to whether it somehow *resonates* and with who. I was thinking about that very idea just before I read what you wrote.....but more in terms of personal responsibility. On the one hand, it reinforces that fact that everything we say and do is, in some form, a *choice* (even when it may not feel so). And it can expand the possibilities. On the other hand......just like with religion, it can sometimes lead to `irresponsibility` or a sense of nothing mattes.....and that our choices don`t make any difference. So in counselling or therapy, I`m not sure how useful it is.....except if somebody has that belief, as a counsellor, its my job to help them use that to empower themselves and use it for growth rather than as a justification for abandoning themselves. As for the quantum wave collapse: in the previous program to that one (while I don`t use that specific term) I quote a therapist friend of mine talking about the the power of the therapeutic gaze....how just being `seen`is an experience that elicits huge shifts. |
