15 Aug 17 - 10:05 PM (#3871868) Subject: RE: Women's suffrage songs c.1918 in uk From: dick.hamlet A long time ago (30 years?) there was a television series, probably from the BBC, but PBS broadcast in the U.S., entitled SHOULDER TO SHOULDER, about the U.K. suffragettes, and a number of songs were featured, particularly as sung in prisons where the marchers were held. Very stirring song, but unless you've got lots of high sopranos, drop the key down a fourth or fifth from the YouTube key! My friend and I did it last year during a concert re the various pioneering and campaigning women of Edinburgh. |
