Unfortunately - at least in the partially hidden google books version - the only song somewhat close to 'Man Of My Own' is 'Leavin' This Morning', which contains only one stanza in common with 'Man Of My Own'. Thanks anyway. Carlo |

25 Aug 17 - 03:03 PM (#3873616) Subject: Lyr Add: A MAN OF MY OWN (Ruth Willis) From: Jim Dixon I found this recording on Spotify. It's on the album "Rough Guide to Blues Women" (2016) but the recording is much older. A MAN OF MY OWN As recorded by Ruth Willis, 1933. 1. I went down 18th Street, didn't have-a no hat, Asking all the women where was my man at. CHORUS: I'm leavin' you, baby, (x3) Tryin' to find a man of my own. 2. I'm gonna grab me a train, ride it 'till it stops. Not gonna stay 'round here an' be your stumblin' block. CHORUS 3. Woke up this mornin' at the break of day, Looked on my pillow where my man used to lay. So—CHORUS 4. My suitcase is packed, trunk already home, So it won't be long 'fore your mama be gone. So—CHORUS 5. You caused my heart to weep; you caused it to moan. So what's this mean ol' train I'm on? SoCHORUS |
