Getaway '17 - the aftermath

Checked into my hotel, about to shower and take a long nap. Missed those not there, enjoyed meeting new faces and voices and floored by the (positive) reactions to some of my numbers. More later.

Lovely weekend, followed by discovering that I was in an airport terminal version of "Charlie on the MTA". I am 1) officially sick and tired of BWI (when the janitorial staff starts greeting you by your first name when you walk into the restroom, you've been there too long), and 2) Hate Logan airport with a passion usually reserved for stepping in dog poo.

I am now home, after many travel adventures, none of which involved actually flying into Logan Airport, the airport that was supposed to be my destination. The saga is on Facebook. Going to go collapse now.

Better memories will be posted when I recover from my trip to the ninth circle of hell.

Another wonderful Getaway. Missed seeing some of your lovely faces and was thrilled to see those who could make it, as well as making some new friends!

I've put some photos up in an album on Facebook.

It was a very sweet weekend for me, and now I'm enjoying the aftermath in North Carolina. Sure was nice to have the privilege of sharing a room with John Roberts.

Great time! All nighter Sunday night in Peace was just what I needed.
Any one with information on Will Brown, fellow I did slow jam and Love Isn't Easy sessions with, would be appreciated. Need to get some info on a song he did Friday night.

I was once told BWIA stood for But Will It Arrive.

Until I was spirited away by the North Carolina folks, I used to fly into BWI (Baltimore-Washington International airport) regularly, both for work and for pleasure. The only problem I encountered was finding a nearby gas station for refueling my rental car. Otherwise, I found it to be one of the more-efficient and less-congested airports in the eastern U.S.
I am recovering slowly from the Getaway and the accompanying ritual of good ale and good food and good music in North Carolina. There's another singaround tonight. Guess I'll take another nap...
Ah, life is good.

Joe,

I am not sure one "recovers" from the Getaway: Rather, one builds back up one's tolerance of the non-getaway world.

Sang part of time on the trip home with Judy and Dennis, and part of the time having who-is -related-to- who-else who was there explained to me. There's the folks getting the car, the folks who are parents of those getting the car, the folks harboring the car till it transfers... What a grand bit of intertwined lives I was able to see! What fascinating people I was able to meet!

I tried to prolong the feeling by going down to the lakefront to play some tunes on the concertina, only to find the spiffy new road construction made it difficult to get to, and had to backtrack to get there. Came home to a damp house the painters had power washed, including in the AC units. Started the struggle to get all the triple tracks out, which involved moving QUITE a bit of stuff & Furniture & now every room in the house is largely an unusable clutter of stuff till the Windows get painted and storms go back in... Normal isn't going to be achievable for awhile.

This was a profoundly great experience, with conversations that were rich in new knowledge of people, places, songs, passions. A few frustrations rapidly sink into funny anecdotes. Blessed by improving health and vastly improved outlook on the world. Feel like I should thank absolutely everyone.

For the record, BWI wasn't the issue, Logan was the issue.

It was a particularly fine Getaway this year. When I have more than two minutes to myself, I'll put down some of my highlights.

Yup. I've had big problems at Logan airport in Boston, too. I go to Providence instead.
