28 Nov 17 - 08:45 PM (#3891049) Subject: RE: New terminology From: GUEST,.gargoyle I must agree with Naylor. Many, many, times i find "accidentals" that slip into riffs...and the continued melody follows...and the other musicians follow into un-known ground. We all have full and the audience too. Sincerely, Gargoyle I have a hard time understandin British "folk clubs" and "traditions." |

29 Nov 17 - 04:18 AM (#3891082) Subject: RE: New terminology From: Will Fly Garg, if you want to understand British folk clubs and traditions, there are some simple conventions to understand - conventions laid down apparently by ancient aliens in Area 51: 1. Though shalt not sing traditional songs with any harmony. 2. Though shalt not sing traditional songs with any instrumental accompaniment. 3. All players in instrumental sessions shall play the tune and only the tune. 4. Guitars dating from the 18th century and earlier shall not be played in sessions, but... 5. Reed instruments invented in the 1840s shall be acceptable at sessions. 6. Any kind of improvisation which might lead into the despised JASS is forbidden. |
