WINTERWOOD G D GThe birds like leaves on Winterwood Sing hopeful songs on dismal days They've learned to live life as they should They are at peace with Nature's ways You are as natural as the night And all that springs from you is good And the children born beneath your light Are like the birds on Winterwood
And for the first I've been seeing |

05 Feb 11 - 06:41 AM (#3089094) Subject: RE: Chords Req: Winterwood (Don McLean) From: C-flat Simplified, but in essence these chords work. The song does require you to learn the picking pattern to do it justice but the notes are easily found in and around the open A chord shape. A No one can take your place with me A E And time has proven that I'm right E There's no place I'd rather be E A Than at your place for the night A No time can pass your sight unseen A E No moment steals away unfound E A lifetime lived in such a dream E A Floats like a feather to the ground D Db F#m And for the first I've been seeing D A E E7 The things I'd never notice without you D Db F#m And for the first time I'm discovering D A E The things I used to treasure about you |

Hopefully this should correct it. D Db F#m And for the first I've been seeing D A E E7 The things I'd never notice without you D Db F#m And for the first time I'm discovering D A E The things I used to treasure about you |
05 Feb 11 - 11:07 AM (#3089192) Subject: RE: Chords Req: Winterwood (Don McLean) From: GUEST,Grishka C-flat, well done, but if you were really "sharp" you would spell C# instead of Db. And E will be E7 most of the time; right before the chorus I hear A7. 06 Feb 11 - 01:02 PM (#3089902) Subject: RE: Chords Req: Winterwood (Don McLean) From: GUEST,Grishka C-flat, ok, let's agree to disagree. I am referring to this version, where I clearly hear E7 played by the second (background) guitar. The "sharp" chord might also be C#7. Funny that we have got so used to sevenths that we sometimes have problems hearing resp. missing them. If this question were of any importance, I would capture the sound and let the chord play in a loop, imagine it to be a tonic chord and test for contradiction. I am sure no one will object if you play E. Enjoy the song. |
