The only song that I can think of off hand is the song that Gene Pitney sang in the 1960's called, "It Hurts To Be In Love" Gene Pitney "It hurts to be in love, when the only one you love Turns out to be someone who's not in love with you. It hurts to love her so When deep down inside she will never love you No matter what you do. She thinks I'm just a friend Though it hurts I must pretend The only way to keep her is to keep it to myself." (I'm not writing all the lyrics here just a portion of them) but I am looking for other songs in the folk genre that speaks of one person falling for someone who shows no love interest back and only wants to be friends.) In this particular case the person is not in love with anyone else but still just wants friendship only with you.) And in this case it is a man who only wants the friendship with the woman and not anything romantic but would like to remain friends. The person is straight. |
