It is pretty rough down here below the line at the moment, but that's nothing new. But one thing I love with the Cat is that now and again someone wakes up an old thread, and browsing through it you find a old friend who's gone turns up - especially when you haven't been looking at the date of the posts. |

Genie and I have been working every day, without a single day off, all that time. In one way, we say, we've not slept away from the biz in more than seven years, in another way we have. When we found her sister, who worked in my theater, dead in her flat, we were up all night in New Jersey, making arrangements, and slept two hours in a mildewed motel room, so that does not really count. We are being murdered by the American economy which is, as Sanders rightly said, fixed against the small bushiness. I increased our theater and other businesses revenues by 800 percent, and still we can't keep up with artificially inflated costs... all of which benefit Trump's class. Tax breaks, Some poor folks will get 1,000 bucks, but middle class small business will not be able to take property tax off their federal taxes, so we will pay twice on the same money, in my case, 150,000 bucks. I'd write songs about it, but I am too busy scrambling to make a buck here or there... not time to play out. Best to all, and missing you all... Lorcan |

You and your better half have survived such things as would have flattened me, had I been in your place. This is neither the time nor the place for disclosure, so I won't spell it out; it's all out there in public/virtual public. You know it all anyhow. And the Mudcat old-timers, which I am not, know about it already. Alas, I know what you mean about blood relatives and blood pressure, as you phrased it in a post years ago (I looked you up on Mudcat as well). I have some experience of same myself. I had the luxury of retreat, which in your case was unavailable to you; so I have retreated. Not proud of it, but the alternative seemed increasingly inhumane. Meaning that to persist would have rendered ME inhumane, I just haven't got your intestinal fortitude I guess. And as for the relative -- somebody greater than I said it better -- "they know not what they do." My goodness it's midnight. The computer station just reminded me. I ought to close here. I was never a great contributor myself, mostly happy just to read and learn, but once or twice I reached out and was rewarded with information/help/kindness. I'm wounded to hear of the heavy losses mentioned here. People I could never meet in the real world who showed compassion and intelligence and with whom I shared the occasional "PM" correspondence.
