Here is a link, hope it works, to the 2018 appearances in the United States for Martin Carthy. Martin Carthy, April 2018 Thanks, CupOfTea, I had NO knowledge this was happening. |

The link to the page of tour dates for April, 2018 looks legitimate. I have followed some of the links on the tour page to the venues. Each time I follow a link, it connects me to a solo performance by Martin Carthy. However, this page of tour dates comes FLi Artists which represents the artist. The FLi Artists page for Martin Carthy has a link to the tour page, and it has a link to "Artist's Website" -- but THAT link goes to Eliza Carthy's site, and looking at her pages just to make sure, none of the Martin Carthy dates for April are there --which only serves to confirm that Martin Carthy is appearing solo, without Eliza Carthy, in the US in April. |
28 Mar 18 - 06:19 PM (#3913709) Subject: RE: 2018 Martin Carthy USA tour From: Jeri I SO don't understand what the problem is. Looks like Martin Carthy and Eliza Carthy share a website, but the gigs are MC solo gigs, so they look like solo gigs. For membership/log in help, email Joe Offer @ joe(at)mudcat.org |

Like birdwatchers have a "life list," I have a "life list" of folksingers I want to see. Once I've seen them in person, all their recordings are so much more memorable. 29 Mar 18 - 09:56 PM (#3913960) Subject: RE: 2018 Martin Carthy USA tour From: Anglo Note - some of these gigs are Martin solo, several are with John Doyle. That should be quite a show. |
30 Mar 18 - 10:47 PM (#3914165) Subject: RE: 2018 Martin Carthy USA tour From: CupOfTea It grieves me I can't get to the Chicago show - have seen some memorable shows at OTSFM, mainly at the Armitage location ( though John Roberts and Deb Cowan were a wonderful intro to the new place) Instead, I will be the person-at-the-door for our monthly Folknet concert series, presenting Nathan Bell, with workshop and concert. I wish I could be more certain that this is going to be as great an experience as some of our other shows, to help ease the grief. It has been a new and interesting experience being part of a presenting group when I have never heard some of the performers. In previous incarnations of Folknet, I had been the one going to Folk Alliance conferences and discovering acts - now others bring home the enthusiastic reports. Thus far I've been pleased to utterly enchanted. I definitely want to be enchanted if I have to miss Martin Carthy to be there! Joanne in Cleveland, grumbling. |

01 Apr 18 - 09:39 PM (#3914582) Subject: RE: 2018 Martin Carthy USA tour From: Joe Offer Suzy, do you think we could get Californians together and convince Martin to expand his tour to California? He might as well get his money's worth out of the megabucks he has to pay for a visa. -Joe Offer, in the Sierra Foothills- |
