I hour 27 mins!?

The audience got good value for their money that night. Most artists do 2 x 40/45 min sets these days.

It's in Flac format of course, you need something like the gloriously free Audacity, VUplayer or foobar2000 to read the files.

These are FLAC formats because the Dime site requires this.

This is what it says:

Recording Information ::: unknown mono portable cassette recorder -> master cassette -> unknown digital transfer -> wav.

Remastering 2018-04-xx ::: wav -> Audacity [fades, manual one-at-a-time glitch, bump, pop, click, clap, cough, dropout & dullspot repairs, volume adjustments, -0.9 averaged pitch (speed) fix with single pass after frequency analysis & with pitchpipe verification, NO equalisation or noise reduction] -> CD Wave (track splits) -> flacs (Trader's Little Helper) -> yr ears. NOTE: Recording was 2 channel mono & R channel had problems, so this is remastered from the left channel only. First uploaded 2018-04-xx.

It's a great pity I was not there with my Sony Pro Walkman, then the recording would have been superb!

I just want to make it "absolutely clear" that I didn't record the gig, it was someone with a dictaphone quality cassette recorder.

Good work Bonz.. there are too many stock piles of tapes rotting away to oblivion never to be heard again,
for all sorts of careless, perverse, and mean spirited reasons...

Big cheers to the 'unofficial' tape liberation networks...
long may they continue their noble work...

I have read elsewhere on the internet (annoyingly I can no longer find the reference) that I made these recordings. I didn't - though I am pretty sure that I was there that night.

Do we have any info on this one please? Like tracklist, provenance, date, circumstances etc.? It seems to have been quite a long gig...
It downloads with a handle tag "Sydney Opera House" but no other markers.

Well, it seems to be a live show performed at the Sydney Opera House; perhaps it took place in Sydney, Australia. Shirley Collins and Peter Bellamy perform live there, don't know if you knew that but that is some interesting information as well. It was before Bellamy's death which took place in 1991. He committed suicide. Shirley Collins was a pretty famous English folk singer as well; she performed with Bellamy. The recording actually contains both Bellamy and Shirley. It took place at the Sydney Opera House, which I believe is in Sydney, Australia. It is a live recording.

Yes, Guest, the Sydney Opera House is indeed in Sydney (Australia)! This recording of PB and Shirley Collins was made in January 1980 by the Australian Broadcasting Commission as it was known then, and a lot of it was broadcast on the national FM station the following year. A copy of that off-air broadcast, along with the four-part Kipling special Bellamy made for the radio, have been circulating for some years.

If this is the complete concert, then this is gold. Have yet to investigate - an appropriate ANZAC Day task.... It was noted at the time that this was the first "folk" performance at the Sydney Opera House. Some tourist photos of PB outside the venue are included in the booklet to "Wake the Vaulted Echoes," the Free Reed Bellamy anthology.

Just checked - these are in fact the off-air recordings that have been in circulation for some years.

Hopefully, the complete recording is still in the ABC vaults, and may surface one day.

From an email from promoter Warren Fahey:

Happy for Shirley [Collns] to receive the tapes [aka recordings]. I have put the recordings and the track info. up on my site at www.warrenfahey.com.au

Not sure if they are the same as [those mentioned] on Mudcat [some years' ago] - wasn’t aware of [any] other recordings.

Micheal Cunningham recorded them [aka those on my site] on his Redox direct from air ... very good quality.

Yes, it was when I brought Shirley and Peter out for my Larrikin Folklife Festival 1980. I ran the Festival for 8 years and had numerous guests including Willie Scott, Robin Williamson Band, Roy Harris, Renboune, Jansch, MacColl and Seeger, etc.

Thanks, Guest, for these links.

Note: the file listed as Radio Interview 2 consists only of a Shirley & Dolly Collins track, George Collins. I'd guess it was being broadcast straight after Peter's interview to fill time (to bring the total broadcast up to the scheduled hour)!?
