He might crack a smile this time. Usually only on every third tour.

Edinburgh nearly sold out for tomorrow. Best to book online in advance rather than risk disappointment at the door.

Andy was in great form at Bury - and he smiled too.

He always smiles and often laughs whenever we meet.

Mind you we have been friends for over fifty years.

Many years ago now I once found myself at an Andy Irvine gig in a Folk Club abroad. It was quite a small venue and he was playing to about 30-35 people. Splendid night and he really seemed to enjoy it. Had a long chat to him afterwards and I tend to take people as I find them. In Andy Irvine's case I found him to be an extremely pleasant and charming man both to listen to in performance and to talk to.

"Edinburgh nearly sold out for tomorrow"

Without taking anything away from Andy's popularity, much of this has to do with the venue itself since it was renovated and the amount of unsuitable furniture. EFC used to be able to squeeze in 150 souls but now the max is 80..apparently.
Having said that, Andy always pulls in a good crowd.

The Edinburgh gig is now on live streaming, if you go to Edinburgh Folk Club's Facebook page (at nearly 21.00. BST) Agree with Johnny J: although "sold out" it doesn't look that full!
