Just saw and quite liked this 2016 film starring Colm Meaney as Martin McGuinness and Timothy Spall as Ian Paisley. Wikipedia entry

Has anyone here seen this film? I wonder to what degree the events are fictionalized. (Please, no debate about the Troubles, terrorism, etc. Plenty of other threads about that.)

I see few films, it doesn't mean much that I haven't seen this one.
Looked it up on imdb website.

Freddie Highmore, whose career has brought him to US network television,
has a part in this film.

I imagine the two senior actors
made a meal out of the dialogue
between two lifelong enemies.
Actors are so enthusiastic about playing parts
that in real life are perilous situations. As in:

did I hurt you, darling, when I killed you?

Completely fictional, but engaging performances by two excellent actors. It's true that Martin McGuiness and Ian Paisley did develop a kind of grudging partnership, but the idea of them doing it in the course of a car ride across Scotland to catch a plane was a theatrical gimmick. It works well enough, so long as you don't take it for fact.
