Wikipedia entry Has anyone here seen this film? I wonder to what degree the events are fictionalized. (Please, no debate about the Troubles, terrorism, etc. Plenty of other threads about that.) |

Looked it up on imdb website. Freddie Highmore, whose career has brought him to US network television, has a part in this film. I imagine the two senior actors made a meal out of the dialogue between two lifelong enemies. Actors are so enthusiastic about playing parts that in real life are perilous situations. As in: did I hurt you, darling, when I killed you? |

It's true that Martin McGuiness and Ian Paisley did develop a kind of grudging partnership, but the idea of them doing it in the course of a car ride across Scotland to catch a plane was a theatrical gimmick. It works well enough, so long as you don't take it for fact. |
