21 Apr 18 - 06:39 PM (#3919035) Subject: BS: Karma From: olddude So I was driving to my eye doctor appointment and yup there is a cop with his radar gun just waiting. Me, I don’t speed so all good but as I passed this guy is going the other way at a fair clip. I flash my lights and signal to slow down. He gives me the finger and goes faster. Looking in my rear view mirror there it was cop with lights on pulling him over. Ain’t karma a bitch |

21 Apr 18 - 07:55 PM (#3919047) Subject: RE: BS: Karma From: Donuel I had always assumed the signal for cops ahead or an accident was three hi beam flashes. I imagine Old Dude used his arm to somehow signal to slow down. That will incense a 'don't tell me what to do' aggressive driver. Anyway there is some confusion as to flashing hi beams so I considered inventing a communication device so that other drivers would have no confusion or misunderstanding. Using 20 year old technology of a programmable light bar, mounted above the windshield, scrolled messages were connected to buttons on the dash. 1 POLICE AHEAD 2 ACCIDENT AHEAD 3 TRAFFIC STOPPED 4 PEDESTRIANS AHEAD (the rest use psychology to enforce an independent will to slow down.) 5 HIGH WATER 6 LOOSE CASH ON ROAD 7 NAKED CO EDS AHEAD 8 DRUG SEARCH AHEAD Anyway that's how I programmed it. |

21 Apr 18 - 08:17 PM (#3919050) Subject: RE: BS: Karma From: olddude Yes I did the down wave with my hand. I never signal people but this town next to mine is a documented speed trap. They fund their town nailing people. It’s 55 and then one small sign 35 so I took pity on the guy only to get the finger lol |

21 Apr 18 - 08:49 PM (#3919055) Subject: RE: BS: Karma From: Stilly River Sage I live in a village (an enclave of a much larger city) that is a speed trap - every so often we get called to jury duty for traffic court. Last time that happened there was quite a stack of folders on the JPs desk, but they all decided to pay the fine rather than have a jury make a decision. I know that driving 40 is exactly what I need to do on all of the village thoroughfares. |

The police were there at the end attending and motorbike (KTM sans rider) parked in a funny place. That guy understood. |

22 Apr 18 - 07:21 AM (#3919117) Subject: RE: BS: Karma From: Donuel Does anyone else believe better communication between drivers by visual device or audio would enhance safety and justify a 200 dollar investment? Or would it cause more problems as I suggested? Having a mounted camera offers no prevention but messaging might. |

22 Apr 18 - 10:46 AM (#3919144) Subject: RE: BS: Karma From: Jeri I've known cops to plant themselves in a conspicuous location to get drivers to slow down. I guess that's more efficient than citing a speeder here and there. Don, speed limit signs down seem to work. Maybe just hit the "cop" flag thing randomly on Waze as you tool down the road... |
