21 May 18 - 04:51 AM (#3926065) Subject: Short Break in Peak District From: SPB-Cooperator On Thursday, my better half an I will be staying in Glossop for three nights for a short break to the peak district. Is anyone aware of any folk music sessions in the area during our break? Also, any recommendations for places to eat/drink in the evening in Glossop - I have heard that the pub on top of the hill on the way to Buxton has closed down, and any stop=off points for a hearty breakfast on Thursday morning coming up from London - the Super Sausage near Towcester comes to mind. |

28 May 18 - 02:20 AM (#3927507) Subject: RE: Short Break in Peak District From: SPB-Cooperator Looking forward to Northern Rail: (1) Sponsoring the event to take place in the next few weeks (and coordinating the timing so that it is convenient for all concerned. (2) Flying my partner over from Prague and back - and compensating her for loss of wages (and Fuji film for coat of temporary staff cover) (3) Paying cost of travel to/from and overnight stay in Glossop evening meals - and compensating me for two days loss of earning and my clients to find cover for me. If they can afford to have such crappy industrial relations that they are too incompetent to run a train service, then they can easily afford this, multiplied by everyone else who is affected. When are the useless capitalist owners/managers of the rail services going to get it into their pathetic heads that it is their duty to run a proper service, and if necessary shutting their pathetic mouth and obeying their superiors at RMT without comment or question - evening if it means licking their workers boots. |

31 May 18 - 02:58 PM (#3928284) Subject: RE: Short Break in Peak District From: SPB-Cooperator No, I am not he, but I was a tad disappointed that what was going to be my only chance to see folk music during the trip was cancelled through circumstances that the incompetent management at Northern Rail were too useless to control. They need to learn that they put the public that they are subservient to before disobeying their workforce. |
