I am watching David Starkey's Music and Monarchy on BBC 4. I know some of you hate him because he is not a Lefty but is there anyone else out there who get what this program is about?

I thought the BBC4 player worked in the U.S., but apparently not on this show. Here's a link:It really should play in the U.S. We like your monarchy much more than you do - especially since the youngest generation has taken to marrying Bond Girls.

Joe, I hope you do get to hear it. It's about the music more than it's about monarchy and the music is amazing, One point it makes is that only the very wealthiest could afford it and, of course. the monarchy were amongst the wealthiest.

Not all monarchs cared. There is bugger-all music associated with most of the British kings and queens - exceptions like James IV, Charles II and the early Georges make us forget about philistine numpties like the early Plantagenets or George V.
