03 Jul 18 - 06:36 PM (#3935088) Subject: Lyr Add: OH BUSKER OG (Na Fianna) From: Jim Dixon This was a tough one. I found the song on Spotify and tried to transcribe it, but there are big gaps in my transcription. It's difficult for me, partly because of the accent, plus, in places, the vocal is obscured by the instruments, and there may be some expressions here I'm not familiar with. Maybe someone else can improve on this: OH BUSKER OG* As recorded by Na Fianna on "The Stable Sessions – Haul Away" (2017) 1. In early mornin' ev'ry day At the crack of noon to earn his pay The teapot's on to warm his bones The heating's off; his body groans There's unpaid bills lay upon the counter Can I(cannot?) let this one go any longer The blood warms up, the brew is gone Off to the street, the day is long Oh, busker og, you're the sounds of my beloved Grafton Oh, busker og, your city keeps you safe, son When I hear your song I know where I belong 2. ... la-di-da ... Some stops and stares and pretend to care A coin gets thrown from God knows where A drunken stag from across the brine Lives for Wonderwall one more time His brain gets bigger and more angry ... now he's still hungry 3. it's 4 a.m.; it's time for bed Lift up the case with a freezin' head His pockets echo with a jingle-jangle His earphones play The Old Triangle Walkin' home from a hard day's work ... enough for all his work Drivin' home after buyin' coffee Do the bills at home take all his money? * Title as given at Spotify. On Na Fianna's website, the title is given as MY BUSKER ÓG. I assume Grafton refers to Grafton Street in Dublin. |
