22 Dec 99 - 11:32 PM (#153215) Subject: ICQ Problems From: DonMeixner I can't seem to get the ICQ up and running this evening. Is this a problem everywhere or just at my end of the wire. Is there a simplified explaination of how to add people to the active file? The one that ICQ supplies really bites. Don Don |

23 Dec 99 - 06:41 AM (#153314) Subject: RE: BS: ICQ Problems From: alison Don... when you are online you will see a little box in the upper right side of your screen (I assume that is where it puts it on everyones computer) at the top of this box is your ICQ number... the bottom line says "iCQ" and has a little picture beside it usully of a flower saying "online", "free for chat", "invisible"... you change this by left clicking in this box....... between these top and bottom lines ... you can see if any ofyour "contacts" are on line... this description is just to make sure that you are in the right place if you are in this box then 3 rows up from the bottom on the left, there is a box called "add users"... left click on it and follow the instructions... eg if you know the persons ICQ number enter it and hit "search"... when the name appears click on it and it will be added to your list.... If you ahve any problems.. let me know... and I'll try to take you through it online... #16719177 slainte alison |

23 Dec 99 - 10:40 AM (#153379) Subject: RE: BS: ICQ Problems From: Rosebrook Just a note: when you are online, you can minimize that litte box in the upper right hand corner of your screen to your task bar tray, and ICQ remains operational while you have access to your full screen. You can receive messages, chat requests, etc. S'matter of fact, we just keep it there all the time, saving the step of opening it every time we want to use. It just becomes activated every time we get on-line. You can add users by by ICQ # as Alison suggested and also by e-mail address. Some people require authorization before you can be added to their list. The ICQ system will just send them an authorization request and they can agree to add you to their list. This is no big deal, although it is an additional step that might have to happen before being able to access a friend on ICQ. happy chatting! Rose |

23 Dec 99 - 02:41 PM (#153456) Subject: RE: BS: ICQ Problems From: Jon Freeman Alison, never assume. To be akward I prefer the box in the bottom right corner although as Rose mentioned, mine spends most of its time minimised in the system tray. Jon |
