With Paypal you are covered and you will always get your money back. I got burned with a fake Dr Martens site recently. I knew it wasn't the real Dr Martens site, but assumed it was just some dead stock warehouse or something. I also naively (as I now know) thought that because it was on Facebook it would be legit: it never occurred to me that they let just any company advertise there; I'd presumed that they monitored advertisers and wouldn't take money from scammers. So, yeah, beware: if it doesn't take Paypal it's clearly a crook. |

Like I said, youtube abounds with reviews from delighted customers, and horror stories from those who were scammed... Rumours are these counterfeit guitars originate from big name factories using the same CNC machines and materials... but produced after hours, and off the books... We used to know a bloke who worked in a factory making Marks and Spencers trifles, he could always supply them without labels, cheap to neighbours... |

Interesting theory but I’m not sure how far it works out. On a short random sample of our family (non Amazon...) online shopping this year, from plumbing supplies to gardening, most do take Paypal. A couple of exceptions I noted were Nisbets (catering supplies) and Radmore and Tucker (gardening/forestry equipment). Both of these do sell to many casual customers and are not what I’d consider “fly by night” firms. |

A Yamaha rosewood laminate is better than some badly made solid sides, and the new ARE system puts them well ahead of the competition. Look at a Yammie as raw material. Set it up yourself. Change the nut and bridge to bone, the end pegs to brass the machine heads to Grover's or Schaller's tune up and listen to it sing. Otherwise all you are paying for is the bit on the headstock that says Martin/Taylor/Gibson etc. and nobody really cares about that. |
