I've googled and can't find an announcement from the BBC about these new programmes. What are Radio Sheffield saying about it? Five or so years ago the BBC was cutting programmes on local radio and combining evening programming across stations. Specialist music programmes were not a priority under the BBC's 'Putting Quality First' initiative. What's changed? Could it be that the main reason for these new evening programmes is to broadcast local football? It is not so much football taking the folk music slot as folk music filling in when there's no football? |
