Origins: Hit Him In The Eye With A Bun

The other day I remembered a song that my Scottish grandfather used to sing... but when I went to look up the rest of the lyrics online, I realised there wasn't a trace of it on the entire internet. Now I'm curious if anyone else has ever heard it, and where it might have come from...

"Early monday morning,
when I awoke at one
There I saw my navvy,
chewing on a bun
He's my navvy, oh yup yup
He's my navvy, oh dry up
Hit him in the eye, oh baker
Hit him in the eye with a bun"

There's other verses from there ("when I awoke at two", etc). My aunt seems to remember the whole thing; we're going to submit it to http://www.waterwaysongs.co.uk soon, but when I mentioned it to the maintainer of that site, he recommended I ask about it here too, just to see if we're not totally alone in having this song handed down!

Well, I've never heard it, or even of it, either! Please post the words - it looks very interesting. Do you have a tune for it please?
