Now I'm curious if anyone else has ever heard it, and where it might have come from... "Early monday morning, when I awoke at one There I saw my navvy, chewing on a bun He's my navvy, oh yup yup He's my navvy, oh dry up Hit him in the eye, oh baker Hit him in the eye with a bun" There's other verses from there ("when I awoke at two", etc). My aunt seems to remember the whole thing; we're going to submit it to http://www.waterwaysongs.co.uk soon, but when I mentioned it to the maintainer of that site, he recommended I ask about it here too, just to see if we're not totally alone in having this song handed down! |
